Will there be challanges?

As far as I know we have heard nothing about anything like this, so let me know if we have somewhere. I also haven't seen a single topic about it, so I don't think it's been considered.

I think it would be awesome if they worked in some kind of a challange system, somewhat like what they had in New Vegas. You get rewarded for doing certain things, that otherwise couldn't be tracked. Of course, it would be more complicated in Skyrim since in NV you could simply throw some exp points at the player, whereas in Skyrim it would have to be something more like experience points in a certain skill (like the one involved in the challange), or some other form of reward like a perk. I thought that was one of the few things they improved upon over Fallout 3.

I had a few ideas for things that could be challanges.

There are of course the basic ones, like deal oh so much dmg with certain weapon types and such. (i.e. deal 10,000 dmg with One-Handed weapons, etc) Then they could add all the more specific ones like crippling limbs (if the whole limb system is in?), killing a certain ammount of creatures, and so on. The rewards could either be skill experience, or some kind of perk. I really like the fact that if you killed like 100 bugs (or however many it was) in NV, you got a perk that made you better against them. (I think it was 1/2/3% crit chance bonus?) It only makes sense that as you fight a type of creature, you would get more effective at doing so.

What do you guys think? Would this just not work or be stupid? Would it be great? Have they already done it? Am I just insane, does this not fit with TES? I know only Other says explain, but please give your input no matter what you vote!

Wouldn't surprise me, they have said that they are borrowing a lot of NV mechanics.

I don't think I want something popping up every now and then saying I've slain 50/100 enemies for X challenge. I don't think it fits the world, and since there's no XP system I don't see the benefits other than self gratification, but there will likely be a counter in your journal like in Oblivion that will tell you statistics on what you've done... so nah. I just don't think it would add much other than breaking the immersion. It wouldn't be the end of the world or anything and I can see why some people would like it... But it doesn't fit well in my opinion.

Pretty sure we'd haven't heard something about it by now.

What if it didn't show the progress. That is why I said 'somewhat like' NV, not 'exactly the same thing'. This allows for some lee-way with this.

So what about if it showed no progress, and they came up with a really good, non-immersion-breaking method of letting you know when you've completed one. Because, I still really liked and would like to have benefit's for you if you kill a million of the same thing. It's rediculous that you wouldn't get any better at fighting them except the general stuff you learn for the weapons you use. You would have to learn their weaknesses, how to exploit them, that sort of thing.

Yeah I can kind of see that. Something like "Kill 100 Zombies ---> You now have a 10% increase in chance of landing a critical hit on a Zombie" sort of thing. I think it would be cool if they could implement that kind of system but have it make sense in TES world both visually and mechanically. Perhaps have it correlate with trainers or implement it into the leveling system somehow so it only shows up when you're already increasing your stats and getting perks anyways.

Necessary? Certainly not. Can it work into TES? If Bethesda can do it properly.
