Why is it impossible? If the World Eater could resurrect them in the 4th era, why couldn't someone in the 2nd era figure out how to do the same thing?

because the world eater is the son of a god. destined to literally devour the world as we know it. he is above and beyond mortal capability.

also, if someone resurrected them in the 2nd era, they would have been around for the SP games, or there would have been at least some mention of them being resurrected. but they weren't, and there was no mention, so its safe to assume nobody did. therefore theres no dragons in this game.

Not saying it was one of The Dragons, but that titan was a dragon.

something that looked a bit like this right?

http://static.elderscrollsonline.com/assets/img/cms/media/concept-art/201cfb6489303ab5e2.jpg

yeah thats a daedra, not a dragon. it might have a similiar look to a dragon because it is impossible for daedric lords to create anything original, hence why everything in their realm resembles something in ours, like dremora looking like people, buildings looking like ours, weapons and armour like ours ETC.

there are also Daedroth that resemble crocodiles, but you wouldn't call them a crocodile, its daedra.

there are spider daedra that resemble spiders, but you wouldn't call it a spider, because its a daedra.

and there are daedra that resemble dragons, but you wouldn't call it a dragon, because its a daedra.

Apparently you didn't read my post. Pay attention to the timeline. Dragons existed at the time this game took place. It wasn't for 300 more years that they had been eradicated.

Darrett is correct. They survived even past Tiber Septims time as Tiber Septim forged an agreement to protect all remaining dragons if they allied with him.

I don't see any sources holding up that up. just what you think.

according to the UESP timeline almost all dragons were wiped over before the second era.

though not all. there are still some around, but they are in hiding. my point still stands that we won't see them in this game, at least none we have to fight.

and then they were all killed.

Alduin was resurrecting them to renew his campaign to re-enslave the men/mer and take over Tamriel/Nirn. He wanted his dragon army back, with the dragon priests and all the rest of it. Alduin is, at this point, still lost, untethered in time.

Probably not.

Daedric titan monster, yes. Dragon, no.

Haha yeah. At least a few notable ones survived but the point is that there are still dragons around during the ESO timeline.

UESP actually does state that dragons survived during the second era but most of the remaining ones were hunted during Tiber Septims time but obviously there were a dozen or so which survived.

Tiber Septim isn't alive yet in this game. This takes place before the Septim Empire.

For sources, read the book "There Be Dragons" and "The Dragon War".

It's not just what I think, it's established lore. There is no reason that they couldn't include a previously unseen Dragon that would be able to be killed, from a lore perspective.

okay well maybe I stand corrected in that there were more than I believed that survived, but it would still not make any sense whatsoever to have them as an enemy. I mean theres not like there are many left, filling the world with random dragons to kill would just be stupid. especially as Im assuming they have created the daedric titans to fill the role of dragons.

I agree, I'd rather they not include any at all, but if they did, it would need to be just one, and it had better be ridiculous to fight, since we have to assume the players don't have access to anyone capable of Dragonrend or dragon-killing weaponry.

maybe, but I feel like the only reason they would ever add a dragon in is to make the people who have only played skyrim and think the entire series is about dragons happy. we went 4 games without them, and likely won't see them in any more, at least not many.

Yeah I agree there. There isn't enough dragons to be used for random encounters but as the remaining ones were being hunted we could always have a dungeon boss on our hands! :)

I really would like dragons in the game but I'd rather them fill a roll where we can't kill them.

That is the thing about mythical creatures. If it kills all the witnesses then there is no one to record the history... So had they all really been killed off, or hiding among the populace, magic is a beautiful thing to throw wrench in the events of history past, or doesn't anyone remember how you travel in time to kill the world eater.

You watch past events courtesy of the Elder Scroll. You don't step into anything, you don't move at all except to open the Elder Scroll.

You use Alduin's portal to the land of the dead to go and physically fight him. No time travel.

seeing as solstheim was pretty much the last stand of the snow elves, had extreme significance for them, is the final resting place for the snow elf prince, has a tomb for him there, had animations beginning with "snow_elf_prince" in the files, had just shown us that there are still snow elves in hiding, AND told us specifically that they have powerful magic that can do things like, oh I don't know, HIDE ENTIRE CITIES. yes, yes I thought dragon born was going to have some snow elves...

Possible. It'l be somewhere the populace won't see it, since as far as history is concerned they were all extinct (we know better but the citizens didn't). They would have had to be in seclusion, with similar circumstances to Durnehviir and Paarthurnax. So, slumbering in a cavern at the peak of some mountain in an island nobody inhabits? Sure. But they won't be joyriding across Skyrim.
