Wouldn't make sense if there wasn't.
They're harbingers of Alduin, but no one said they're tied to him like orcs are tied to Sauron. They won't just die and disappear when (IF) Alduin dies.
Alduin may not die. He may just pull a Han Solo as a reason to let dragons keep on existing. And considering Bethesda will most likely want a way to keep Dragons in their future Elder Scrolls games, would make sense to leave the MQ in a state of suspended draconic existence to allow for a story arch that explains why dragons are now in the future regions of TES series.
