Seriously, people? The arguments you're using against guns are simply idiotic.
Why would people stop using bows or magic if guns were invented? Guns and bows coexisted for a long time, with bows being used by expert archers, and guns by massed infantry formations. Both have advantages and disadvantages over the other. There are guns beside AK-47-s, you know. As for magic... well, even comparing magic to firearms is ignorant.
Armor and swords would not become obsolete. The Black Army of Matthyas I of Hungary (15th century) fielded arquebusiers, infantry formations with pikes, and mounted knights in plate armor, all side by side.
I fail to see how early firearms, such as single-shot boomsticks or hand-cannons would contradict with lore or spoil the feel of the game. The Redguards of Hammerfell have bombards, and nobody whines about it.
As for arguments such as "NOOOOOOOOOO", well... maybe you should reconsider posting at all.
Personally, I'd love to see firearms in TES, but not as a main means of combat. Say, you have a generic warrior build with no skills in archery or magic. When encountering a foe, you could pull out a pistol, fire its only shot, then change to your sword and engage in melee.
