Not least because multiplayer has to be implemented during development, not just slapped on after release.

IIRC Fallout Tactics can be played online, he's going to try and set up a server and see if it works.

The online mod of Fallout: Tactics. The only game in the series to have multiplayer (so far).

The only published Fallout to have online play was Fallout Tactics. Its not Co-op or anything more like arena battle.

It would suit Fallout to have multiplayer like Red Dead Redemption has, for everyone who doesn't have that:

Games of about 20 people all in the big world, you can form parties and hunt together or just kill everything yourself. You can rank up to gain better weapons (which you can't lose) and better amour.
Obviously, there would be game modes like "Capture the flag" or "Deathmatch" to go along with all that.

Fallout tactics I Imagen it is easy, seeing as no-one is on it.

game length I disabled, I think game type varies on the map, teams you can be attacking or defending.
