Now this is one of the most brilliant and at the same time simplest ideas ive seen here! FEMALE giants! Yes! And female of all species where you should see any difference between male and female. Like minotaurs perhaps... Well, seriously! I love it! And killmoms is looking at this topic! Hey, killmoms, tell this to the rest of Bethesda, wont ya? ;)

The assumption that the only reason gamers want females in a game is for six appeal is appalling. There are so many sixist assumptions about that that I don't know where to start. So I won't, since you're almost certainly trolling.

look on tesnexus and tell me if you can find a woman that someone else made that isn't dressed skimpy

Goblin shaman were clearly female? What makes you say that? I certainly never noticed it.

I'll shelve it at that-- after all, that guy is probably a troll. Let me just say that while it's fine to have supernatural daedra appear masculine or feminine, having the enemies all be male is unbalanced. I think bethesda is smart enough to make different models, one male, one female, whatever.

Also, Giants actually grow on trees, they're a kind of fruit.

Appaling? It's the truth for many people, not all of them no but it's still valid to a large portion of people. I'm not saying I disagree with you, like most assumptions it's pretty stupid, but it's not appalling.

The fact of the matter is, doing a female model for every monster is twice the work. If you consider how much time making only one quality model takes, then multiply that by the amount of models required only for monsters, you end up with an unreasonably high number in terms of development time. I'm not saying it can't be done, but there are more important things to focus on than female giants, wolves etc. If a bear is trying to rip your face off, you don't stop to check if it's a mama bear or a papa bear, you either kill it or get your face torn off. Almost nobody is going to notice it, even less are going to care if it's not a part of the game.

So doing that for common animals is almost entirely pointless. You can argue that giants are more unique and distinctive, but they're still just another enemy for you to kill or run away from. Besides, who's to say female giants aren't kept from the outside world, who's to say they exist at all? I've seen stranger things in fantasy to be sure.

I don't think there will be female giants, and I don't care either. If you think of a giant, you think of a male giant. I'd actually rather have 2 types of male models for giants than a male and a female one.

The triviality of changing the clothes of an NPC makes this a meaningless comparison. An untrained monkey could do it. It only takes a few people to want it to justify the 3 minute CS tweak.

3 minutes to change what an NPC is wearing is rather generous, that should include a bathroom break :P

Besides, commeting on the female clothing mods on the Nexus is not relevant to this discussion at all, those mods are there because they're in demand, if you think they svck then I welcome you to make and upload your own.

it was in response that someone thought that the only reason that people want women in games is because they like to looked is not true and clearly the mods on nexus disprove this

this is a question of adding as much realism into a game that is based around a long established fictional world of the fantasy genre.

Obviously creating the skimpy clothes is a much greater undertaking that actually takes skill, I didn't mean to imply otherwise, but inventory switching? Bah, even I can do that.

Is there any indication that the giants are, without a doubt, just going to be enemies? Everyone seems 100% certain that giants are enemies, so I'm not sure if I missed that info somewhere or not.

They're obviously intelligent and have ways of communicating. They're the ones responsible for the Dwemer being called Dwarves.

Sure, they were enemies in past games, but so were Orcs.

of course there are female giants. What gender did you think the one in the photo was?? Just because they are flat-chested and bearded doesn't mean you know what's under their perma-undergarments.

One thing that's kind of bugged me of late in Bethesda games, is when it comes to humanoid monsters, there's almost no female versions of these creatures. Oblivion's goblins were good like that, as the Shamans were pretty clearly female, and IMO helped breathe some "realism" into the goblin dungeons.

I agree that on this apart from the shamans, I really could not tell until someone pointed that out in the big O forum... I just thought man boobs.
Though there were quite a few female monsters, dryads, spider daedra, flame atronarchs, spriggans.
Besides, Amazon-like giant women roaming the countryside, pillaging villages and capturing men for snu-snu (if you know what I mean ;)), it'd just be awesome.

You had to go and spoil it by trying to be funny...
Though tbh, I wen't straight there, right round amazonia and coming round the mountain to Daryl Hannh' 50' tall frame.

Anyone can do that, I'm just saying, in my time as a modder I've seen more trash talk on these kinds of clothing mods than you would believe, solely because it's not their taste. It's not my taste either, I'm okay with skimpy clothing, some eyecandy is all well and good, as long as it's within reason. Still, i value the skill and effort it takes to create mods like that, no matter how skimpy or unrealistic it is.

I don't care if you like those mods or not, dismissing someone's hard work when you can't do better yourself (Which is the case for most of the people complaining, not all, but most.) is just pathetic.

On the contrary, I seem to recall some kind of suggestion (if not confirmation) that giants aren't necessarily hostile to the PC. Something about them needing the player's help to hunt mammoths, perhaps?

Female giant models? Ehh... what Urge said above, in multiple posts. It's doubling the amount of work the artists have to do for a given creature, or halving the number of variations a given monster of a given gender the game might otherwise have.

And I find female monsters to be a bit awkward (at least the brutish, non-sixualised kind; vampires, evil witches and scantily-clad ultra-powerful spirits [I'm looking at you, Azura] are much more suitable). I realise this might seem a dreadfully sixist attitude, but a bit of sixism is to be expected (and can be quite charming) in a sword & sorcery environment; and the same standard can apply equally to masculine monsters of the sixualised kind. Anyway, not a big fan of female giants and their ilk, personally, but I can see their value in terms of presenting a believable world.

Oh, clearly I've made my point very, very wrong. I'm not dismissing the clothing itself, I think a lot of it is very well made and while it's not to my taste, I can see the love and effort held within, and am glad they exist.

My point was, taking this clothing and applying to to an NPC is an easy enough job that it cannot be used as a measure of how much demand there is for it.

Just to make my stance extra clear: I love that skimpy clothing mods exist, I think it's great that for whatever taste you have there is something, whether it be realistic medieval armour or bits of transparent cloth held on by magic. I don't agree with the mods, but I'll defend their right to exist until the thread is locked or I get banned.

They had boobs. And skirts.

Also, I love how people assume female giants (when the males are pretty hideous) automatically means "six appeal". I mean, whatever floats your boat, but really? I don't think "sixy" is in a giant's vocabulary.
