Will there be female giants?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:43 am

One thing that's kind of bugged me of late in Bethesda games, is when it comes to humanoid monsters, there's almost no female versions of these creatures. Oblivion's goblins were good like that, as the Shamans were pretty clearly female, and IMO helped breathe some "realism" into the goblin dungeons.

However, then along came Fallout 3 and its associated DLC, and all the humanoid mutants were male. Super mutants can't be helped, (and it's actually explained why they're all male-looking), but feral ghouls, trogs, swampfolk... all male. Why?

So, with the introduction of the http://au.ps3.ign.com/dor/objects/93394/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/images/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-20110211094604627.html?page=mediaFull in Skyrim, I'm really hoping we'll see some variety, once again.

Besides, Amazon-like giant women roaming the countryside, pillaging villages and capturing men for snu-snu (if you know what I mean ;)), it'd just be awesome.

If they used nordic lore as inspiration its possible, female gaints were mentioned often.
But its probably not going to be in, I would doubt they will spend the time to make a separate model for just another giant.

It could happen, but I for one doubt it...

All of the undead were male I think.

With daedra you have spider daedra and flame atronarchs.
Monsters, there were spriggans.
And humanoids were about equal I think.

Thats all I can think of right now, without looking at a list.

But, yeah, female hostiles do add a certain penache. I especially think spider daedra were a lot more scary than they would have been as males.
Female giants sound intimidating as well. Id like that.

Still, Xivilai are hawt.

I don't see why it wouldn't happen. I can't imagine having this whole race of giants that don't include females for no apparent reason.

Didn't you know? Giants reproduce through Mitosis.

I kinda like how ES handles women, they aren't streamlined like every other game that is just boobs and gore

My thoughts exactly! "I never thought it would end this way, but I had always really hoped!"

Seriously though, female giants would be awesome.

There should definitely be female giants. How else do giants naturally procreate?
I loved the Mmmm sound the giants made in Daggerfall. :)

Haha. You know that in Fantasy Land there are only females of physically attractive humanoid species, right?

I hope the giants have different character models. There should be a giant's village or something in the forest somewhere, but not a real town, more like a nomadic settlement with firepits and caves.

Why do you have to have female giants? So you can go underneathe them and then have a "peek" above? What is it with everyone wanting to have some "six" in video games lately?

I don't know, any time I htink of giants I always think of males. Guess I never seen any female giants in any fantasy setting. I guess they went the same place as the female Ents.
They just dispeared because the male giants are too stupid to remember that they have females to take care of or spend time with. :)

The assumption that the only reason gamers want females in a game is for six appeal is appalling. There are so many sixist assumptions about that that I don't know where to start. So I won't, since you're almost certainly trolling.

I'll shelve it at that-- after all, that guy is probably a troll. Let me just say that while it's fine to have supernatural daedra appear masculine or feminine, having the enemies all be male is unbalanced. I think bethesda is smart enough to make different models, one male, one female, whatever.

Also, Giants actually grow on trees, they're a kind of fruit.

How hard can it possibly be for the designers to make a giant look a it more like a female, I mean we shouldn't have to see the difference as long as there is some. Also, while we are at it add that for everything, female wolves, female bears, female mammoths, female dragons etc. Only thing missing now to make a perfectly (almost) logical eco-system is puppies and kids for those creatures.
