The salmon meat in the demo is enough confirmation for me.

Oh, and this: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4lrm97dBqNo/TUFlf8E0PZI/AAAAAAAAAYM/zpU1C-tvpWw/s1600/artofskyrim_004_town.jpg

Although we know pretty much for sure there won't be a requirement to eat, the ability to fish would be helpful if there was one.

I remember playing Ultima Underworld I & II, and you could fish in both games - which was interesting, given that you never did get to go "outside".

I hope it's in.

Fishing, leatherworking, cooking, woodcutting, etc. falls into the "It's awesome just because you can" category.

Yes, yes they do :foodndrink:.

We know it's from Skyrim because that screen is from a video of a tour of the Bethesda Game Studios studio! :teehee:

Don't be so happy. It's for fully developed fish as opposed to the hatchery. (I assume)
Bad luck mate :(

EDIT: What is the word above Hatchery? I can read everything else but that evades me.

I had not seen this video before...AWESOME! Riften is an actual city on the southeastern end of skyrim. It sure appears that it will focus on fishing (duh) If we coudl just fish there that would be great. BUT can we throw a pole in the water up near Solitude of Windhelm that is another question...

BTW I like the grab a pole throw it in the water where you see fish jumping style of fishing. It does not need to be a skill just somthing you can do. Not a cut screen minigame but just a fluid here are some fish let me grab my pole for a few minutes and try fishing.

[edit] After looking at the picture more it looks like fishing will be just like the similar activity as logging....unless you have to go to the forest to cut down trees...

Thanks again for the link!

I'd welcome fishing as a pastime on Skyrim, although I enjoy it in real life more than games.

I would love to be able to fish and catch my own food. It would give a real sense of survival in the wilderness. I also think they should add camping so that you can live entirely self sufficiently and never require visiting a city or inn to grab 40 winks.

A bedroll is an item I really hope is added to Skyrim

I do hope fishing works like this. You find various poles throughout the game. Some very valuable and easier to catch fish with, others worthless and much harder to catch fish with. Then of course in your inventory you have a plethora of items to use as bait. Some fish respond better to certain baits compared to others. I like the idea of using whatever rod and lure combination you want, and then being able to flick the line into any stream, river, lake, or pond you happen to stumble across. If you catch a fish or two, great! If you catch nothing you were in a bad spot. And if you catch a rare monster salmon, it should have qualities like it being worth a lot to sell, or it giving you a huge health or fatigue boost if you cook it and eat it.

I know and that's why I'm asking lol. It seems like everyone is asking for features that are on the "not to be mentioned" game.

I don't understand what's wrong with RuneScape, sure all you ever do is left click, and the community is horrid.

Eh, never mind.

Fishing in Skyrim would be pretty cool, heck if we can do cooking and smithing and the like, why not? :celebration:

Unless I am behind and it WAS confirmed :spotted owl:

I have a dumb question for you, what does it mean when somebody posts an owl?

The community used to be fine. Everyone was always nice to newbies and I actually made some real friends there. You could right click too, so there!

I'm kind of hoping the fishing will be like fishing in Animal Crossing/Digimon World 1 :)
I used to fish for aaaages on those games. :D
And also:

Character: *hums while casting line.*
Voice: AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH MY SPINE!
Character: *raises an eyebrow but doesn't move. The fishies won't escape this time.*
Voice: SERIOUSLY, THERE'S A FREAKING DRAGON OVER HERE! HELP!
Character: *sighs and tries to ignore it. Too bad all the noise is scaring the fish.*
*Frost dragon flies over and freezes the river the Character is fishing in.*
Character: Oh, goddamnit!

Correct me if I'm wrong. It seems like people want this game to be more like Runescape.

While Runescape may not be that great of a game, multiplayer online games have a lot of great features that should be in RPGs, like fishing and cooking. It adds immersion and adds something other than just slaying things and questing. Features like this could add so much more depth to the game. I mean, why not? It's an RPG isn't it?
