Will there be level scaling?

I sincerely hope not.

Morrowind had leveled loot, but it also had a degree of placed loot. I'm sure everyone has a favorite story of a location where they walked in and found something neat - a Daedric Claymore, or a piece of Ebony Armor.

In that respect, Oblivion horribly murdered any real reason to go out and explore. Most of the time, you weren't going to find anything but junk, and never any equipment higher than your current level. If Fallout 3 and it's DLC are any indication, I think Bethesda's realized just how much some of us hated that aspect of OB.

If anything, I hope they won't put levelled Artifacts in the game again. To me that was silly when you got the level 5 version of Mehrunes' Razor. Also, I hope they will put handplaced items back where they belong so exploring will have meaning again. This was my main complaint about Oblivion where every single cave/ruin had levelled loot. And because this game is singleplayer, it wouldn't matter much to find the Mentor's Ring at level 1 in a crypt close to Seyda Neen (that was awesome!).

Oh, and bandits wearing Ebony/Glass/Daedric at level 20+. But I hope Bethesda will apply the 'Raider' approach there as they did in Fallout 3 and give those bandits a variety of filthy fur/leather armor. :)

Besides, even if the player would be able to get a full set of Daedric Armor and a Daedric Battleaxe at level 1; he'd still have trouble using it effectively due to low skills and abilities. So no need to scale everything 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20 when effective use of an item is already adressed in the player's skills (or lack of) ;)

Plus NPCs carrying levelled weapons ? Just plain weird.

Probably but I hope not.

The level scaling in TES 4 ruined the game as levelling up had no effect.
If they levelled the weapons that you could buy or find it would be just about bearable.

well i hope that there still will re spawning loot and human NPC in dungeons ,i dont want to play a empty game after i complete all the quests.

I loved oblivion as a whole but one of the most immersion breaking things about that game was the mechanic of level scaling.
When i gain a level in a RPG i want it to feel as if i grow stronger and that feeling is taken away with this mechanic.
Besides that it makes no sense that the bandits in the caverns automatically gain glass armor because the player went around exploring.
So will it be implemented into TES V or will the world be static?
yeah ,that way most of the time i played on the lowest difficulty gauge.

The bandits were always a weird one for me. It would be great if you saw a group of them in glass armour and actually worried, because you weren't sure if you could beat them. In TES:IV it was just another indicator of having levelled up - no biggie in terms of challenging gameplay.
Personally, I think it will definitely be one of the things which will have been tweaked - if not completely overhauled - as it came up so often on the discussion boards.

I hope there is no loot scaling, and just minimum level scaling. It really ruined the immersion for me in Oblivion when I saw lowly bandits wearing glass armour.

I don't mind that, necessarily, for particular or special enemies. Like a bandit chief or a guard captain.

But yes, the level/equipment scaling was annoying.

Very little level scaling, and no loot-scaling, with a fair bit of handplaced unique loot. In Oblivion there was no incentive to explore and dungeon-dive - you wouldn't find anything interesting. The villages were mostly pointless. I'm hoping that they've learned something from OOO/FCOM, and if Fallout 3 is anything to go by, they have.

I want neither level nor loot scaling. Loot is t he worst. Fighting my way to the bottom of a dungeon and only finding chests containing 5 gold, a linen cloth, a wooden utensil of some sort and a common soul gem was always soooo irritating.

I loved the static way Morrowind was. You'd stumble upon artifacts and not know what they were related to. I found the bittercup on accident while exploring and kept it in my house for weeks because I didn't now what it was for. I stumbled upon Chrysamere and used it for a WHILE before finding out it had anything to do with a quest. It's exciting to find interesting loot. It's not exciting to find chests which are full of junk and inexplicably guarded jealously by bandits in glass armor.

Just make it more like Morrowind. An example is in Morrowind i would see a tomb and i'm a level 2...i don't enter that tomb. Where as Oblivion i see a ruin at level 2...i go in and clean house.

Hopefully enemies will be hand placed and not leveled to you, but once you beat them/clear out an area, they come back scaled to you. Loot though, I don't want scaled. Id rather have requirements for certain weapons/items rather than getting a unique weapon at a pointless level 2 or 4.

I believe there should be an option to turn this off.
