Will there be a list of voice acted player names?

Just as the title says will there be a list of voice acted player names before the release of the game? so we know which names codsworth will be able to speak before the game releases.

Nope.

According to a "names list in F4?" search.

Probably not. Because if X name from X culture isn't on it people will say Bethesda is racist. So if the community does it then there is no official list

the game is set in 1950's american style.. it wouldnt be racist to not have foreign names... besides that id like to have a voice acted name.. and it would svck to have to keep remaking a character to check if the name can be said or not (since you wont know until after you press the finish character button)

In all Bethesda games, my character is always named Enoch but sadly I don't think that's going to be on the list. :turtle:

Would love to see that list but it was already confirmed not to be released. So a community made list will be the best we've got for the time until the new geck is released. I'm assuming it will be easy enough to locate in there.

If Unto-Antero isn't on the list, I'm gonna sue somebody.

EDIT: And I do mean *somebody*, so, you know, watch out.

My question is will the game tell from first and last name? See, Howard works for both (I.e. Moe Howard, Howard Stern) but if I name my PC Sam for instance, will codsworth or other NPCs refer to me as "Mr. Sam"? Or can I place a last name (I.e. Sam Johnson) and the game can split them when being spoken or referred to? I don't know, I just cringe when I think of Mr. Sam being said lmao! I won't hold my breath though.

Someone from Bethesda tweeted it quite a while ago. I'll see if I can find link to it.

Edit. Can't seem to find it, it was several months ago. Might have it on my pc's browser history but it'll be a few days before I can check.

Pete Hines confirmed it on Twitter.

I think the most likely reason they won't officially release the list is that they want people to discover which names work on their own rather than get spoiled by an official list and then only work off of that for a character name. Todd Howard likes to have secrets in his games.

Here is a quick question. Can you name a female wanderer have a males name and still have witty banter utilizing the name or are the parameters different for the six of your character?

Also, I would have hoped for a way to change phonetics but I may be asking too much.

They shouldn't have even said anything about it. Should have let people find out when the game released that their name was voiced.

It was their marketing strategy. They want people to know that you will be further immersed as your character than previous games. I give them kudos for trying.

The guide might have the list, if it does people will post it. Personally I'm fine with just "ma'am"

Just think of a 50's sounding name or ask your grandparents on what names were common. It'll be good.

I wonder if it will recognize compound names like Bobby Ray, or Billy Joe.

Don't know, I'll probably just name my character, and if he knows it that's great, if he doesn't then whatever.

Players will probably figure the names out reasonably quick after launch if I know the gaming community right.

I'm wondering about first and last names as well. It seems like that may not work though. In the Microsoft E3 presentation the character was named Phil Spencer, and when he meets Codsworth after leaving the vault he doesn't refer to him by name. But when the name is just Howard, Codsworth calls him Mr. Howard at the same point in the game.

Either last names don't work, or Spencer just wasn't on the list of recognized names.
