Will there be multiple races or multiple nords in skyrim

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2009 10:43 pm

Morrowind's race selection aside, the nords aren't barbarians. They don't wear fur loincloths and live in rickety huts in a collection of tiny tribal villages. Theirs is pretty much the oldest human society on the continent, if I'm not mistaken, and it's unlikely that anyone visiting from a different province is going to die trying to adapt to living in a foreign land because they haven't invented fire and stone buildings.

Wasn't it on the right..?

We're both wrong, it's in the middle. To the right is the skills, and to the left is the picture.

I don't think there was a demo for Morrowind.

So yeah, it's really strange that you missed that. :P

Well, at least this way my 'roughly 25% of the threads in the Skyrim forum are polls' statement is still valid.

This gets my vote for "Fail Thread of the Day."

Of course we will be able to play more than one race.

Hey if Argonians could survive in the area around Bravil, they will make it in Skyrim.

I was a huge fan of oblivion and i have recently been reading this forumn for a long time so i decided to join. Something is troubling me because i see all these polls for which race people want to play as but the lore of the elder scrolls does not support this at all. Let me explain.. every race has their own country..Valenwood= wood elves/ Summerset Isle= high elves/ Morrowind=Dark elves/ High rock=Bretons/ Hammerfall=Redguards/ Elsweyr=Kajiit/ Black Marsh=Argonian/ From what i could find orcs are in the mountains or High rock/ Skyrim=Nords and imperials are in Cyrodiil.
Every province has basically 1 climate which is why there is one major race in each province except cyrodiil. It has the climate of black marsh/summerset isle/and skyrim which is why it is evenly distriputed among races. It is also the biggest province and is perfectly in the middle of all of the provinces. Many wars took place there which is why it is so diverse. It is the most diverse land in terms of geography, climate, and race. When races migrated they migrated in towards cyrodiil. There is almost no races in any other province except for the main one that i listed except for high rock. In morrowind we could only play as dark elves because that was the majority of the people. In oblivion we got to choose because in was evenly distributed. in Skyrim some races can't even survive because of the climate which brings me to my point. I don't think that we will be able to choose what race we want to be becuz there isnt a shred of evidence that supports that their could be other races except for dunmer because they were drivin out of morrowind at the time where skyrim takes place (i could be mistaken on that one). I think we will get to choose which type of nord we want to be like from which clan but not which race. Someone please try and prove me wrong i wanna be a dark elf they are the best. below is where i got my info.

This makes me think that all your knowledge of TES was gleaned from a homeless man in a bus shelter. Orcs are from Orsinium (sp) by the way. As for race distribution, ofcourse some provinces will be more saturated with some races (the inner core of Black Marsh only survivable by Argonians and native creatures of the province would be a good example, but other races are still able to populate the "outer ring"). Morrowind was full of other races, pillaging Nords, Settling merchants and tradesmen and scholars. Imperial occupiers, Khajiit and Argonian ex-slaves etc.

Immigration, asylum, trade and transport do exist in Tamriel you know.

This is the best thread ever. I don't know how you got it in your head that the "main" race in a province was the only playable one... I mean, did you not read the manual? Not see the part after the guy says "now before I stamp these papers tell me if this information is correct" where is it says "race" if you clicked the button next to it
(I think it was X on X-box) that would have have given you the chance to change races a second time!

All I can say is  and :hugs:

They seemed downright comfortable in the reeking canols around Bravil. They didn't do too badly in the ice and snow around Bruma, either. :D

This is a joke, someone's playing a joke on me...

Seriously, you didn't catch that you could change your race? Is that even possible? No, I don't think that's possible. In any event, you have just become a legend. Not a good one, but a legend nonetheless.
I will forever be amazed that you didn't know you could change your race. That's like.. thinking you have to name your character "Player". I wish you better luck with Skyrim.

If it makes you feel any better, ya made my day lol.

In morrowind we could only play as dark elves

Haha, you remind me of my friend who played X2 all time without knowing that you can use a 10x time acceleration when travelling inside a system :D

WE WILL BE ABLE TO CHOOSE WHICH RACE WE PLAY AS

Bethesda will NOT throw away one of the key elements of their games simply to satisfy the lore that was created long ago, when they didn't have a reason to plan on a game taking place in Skyrim.

They will have no problem twisting the lore, or even ignoring it in order to continue to allow players to choose their race. If I am wrong about that, I will eat one of my forearms, I promise.

Just remember, that first and foremost Elder Scrolls games are GAMES, and story & lore (though lovable, and also very important) is secondary to gameplay... and Bethesda understands that pretty darn well.

This is a full Elder Scrolls installment. This isn't a Legends or Travels or.. whatever. It's The Elder Scrolls V.

No numbered one so far has excluded races; I doubt they intend to break that tradition.

Damn, that's rough. That would be hell for me since I often fly transport ships in X3: TC. 50-100 m/s without time acceleration :ahhh:
