Will they all mods for the PS3?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:15 am

I was wondering, since mods add a heck of a lot to games, and they had a system in place for oblivion to get DLC, Will we be able to transfer mods from the computer to the PS3 (since it has USB ports)? If you don't know then just state if you want it, and/or why you want it or don't want it.

No, they won't. The reason why has been explained in countless other similar threads already.

I doubt it. It's not as simple as that. In reality the pc and ps3 version is two different games, or atleast i imagine they will be. I do wish it was possible though. What kind of Console hating egotist wouldn't wish that?

I actually would like the PS3 to have their own modding community, being able to add more to the game. I just think it's very limiting and hard to do right as there's no extra hardware upgrades that open up abilities, like with the PC. Modding causes games like Morrowind and Oblivion to make use of the newer superior technology on PC; Consoles, however, are very static in terms of hardware.

That is why allowing modding for Skyrim on the PS3 may be extremely limiting when it comes to pushing the envelope of what's technically possible. In terms of gameplay, quests and some of the body and armor mods would work, among other similar mods. Not a lot more than that though. Nonetheless it seems like a worthy challenge and the first step to bring talented PS3 modders to the PC. ;)

No, they won't. I wish they would do something like an officially sanctioned mod compilation, but they've stated that they have no plans or intent to do so.

G.Staff, Sr Community Manager said:

We like seeing the mods that are made by the community, but we have no plans to make them available as official releases.

Similar to Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3, the tools for Skyrim are PC only. There's no plans to release a version of the Creation Kit on consoles. If you're into modding, we suggest you go for the PC version.

Drat I don't have a 350, and my 360 brought the red ring of death....really off putting.
