Will a thieves guild make a reprisal role in Skyrim?

Post » Sun Jun 27, 2010 8:01 am

So, I was introduced to TES by Oblivion, and one of my favorite pulls was playing a 'righteous' thief (IE thief with higher morales than most thieves), and I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of being a stealthy barely lethal (While slinking around a castle for goods or something)

Anyway, is there any confirmation of this? If theres a similiar thread to this, then mods please feel free to lock this thread.

I don't think anyone knows, but I think we can assume the Thieves' Guild is in, because a lot of people loved it.

Can you elaborate on this confirmation? Is it from one of his recent interviews?

My understanding is that there is no more Mage's guild, but we have the College of Whispers, Synod and a Necromancer faction which is possibly joinable.

I haven't heard anything so far regarding the Fighter's Guild or the Thieves' Guild; however, even if they have different names or there are multiple factions for warrior and thief characters, I imagine there must be some faction where you can sell stolen goods.

Yea, in one of the new interviews he said that the Guilds will be where we can really play a particular style such as Warrior, Mage, or Thief. I don't remember which interview though, sorry.

Mages guild is gone? Is it to diversify magic styles, or is there a storyline reason?

I believe the Infernal City tells of their division.

Storyline reasons. With the decline of the Empire, it just kind of...broke apart, and the Synod and College rose in its place. I imagine (hope) something similar happened to the Fighters Guild, being officially chartered as well.

No reason, however, why criminal organizations like the Dark Brotherhood and the assorted Thieves Guilds would die, however, although I hope that they work a little differently than in the past. And that the former latter has perhaps a more...creative name.

The closest thing that I can come up with is here:

We try to make each time, the ultimate warrior game, the ultimate wizard game, and the ultimate thief/stealth game, we wanna to pay off on all those play styles, guilds will ever do that, but they're different from what we've done before, but we still want to pay off on people who wanna, perform those roles.

From the Todd's recent interview with Gameswelt.

True, but I would think that organizations like the Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild would depend more on the personalities of the leaders who keep them together and keep discipline. As for the name, it seems that it's usually the name the peasants commonly call them. The people didn't like the name Syffim, so they called it the Fighter's Guild. Thieves guild is an informal title because nobody would name such an organization unless it was personality driven, like the Corelone family or something like that.

It was part of the Infernal City book, in a passing mention. We don't know anything about the two factions that were supposed to have replaced it, or if they would have been widespread, or if they have lasted over a hundred years to the time of Skyrim.

Sounds much cooler than "Fighter's Guild" IMHO
