I know we cant 100% sure, but this should run Skyrim nicely right?

Also, will this motherboard(pic) work with the Core i5 sandybridge processor?

It will almost definitely run it. As for maxing it, there's no way to tell at this point.

What about the motherboard? It will work with said (OP) processor right

Dont think so, the sandy bridge uses socket 1155 not 1156.

I don't think that's a good mobo choice for the CPU, no (look for 1155 socket).

Also be sure to run a 64-bit OS to make use of all that memory. Is this build solely for Skyrim? If so, I'd wait a while longer (by the time Bethesda release system reqs, it's a good bet there'll be superior hardware available for the same or lower cost).

Yeah you guys are right, changed the motherboard to 1155 socket.

IDK. Mine can run Stormwind on WoW at ultra settings on a constant FPS of 60, so I hope I can run Skyrim near max. Anyone think I can?

actually it states LGA1156 as the motherboard's socket but the cpu has lga1155... so probably they won't match. As for maxing the game out, I'm pretty sure it will.

I don't see why not. Max probably, maybe not 60 fps but should still do pretty good.

I recommend you get a board with 4 -6 RAM dimms and dual PCIe slots.

I'll get the info in a bit. But there's more stuff going on in Stormwind than Ican see happening in TES any time.

We have no clue what the required spec's are yet, so nobody here can say. We can simply guess it should be able to at least run it. :P

I'm guessing it'll run the game great. I know the PC version is going to get higher resolution textures and a few other goodies like that, but other than that the same game runs on console hardware too. :P

Any modern PC will run the game, 100%. Why can I say this? Because the game has to run on Xbox360/PS3. The hardware in these consoles is extremely old at this point. However, if you want to max out the settings, you will still probably need a mid-high video card. Why? Because the game will not be optimized for PC. Still, just about any modern PC with a modern gaming-esq video card will 100% play the game. Like others are saying, build a PC closer to launch. If you don't need it now, just wait.

That system will most certainly run the game on max or really close.

I think the older radeon HD 5870 was actually more powerful than the 6870 at least that's what I've heard while trying to decide what to upgrade to and it would be cheaper too.

I looked a bit closer at my setup
http://i53.tinypic.com/2j1jv36.png

And the motherboard PCIE is 2.0x16, while the GFX card PCIE is 2.1x16

Im assuming this is going to be a problem?

EDIT: I think i just made a noob error, do all motherboards use 2.0?

It certainly cost more when I went GPU shopping.

nope it will run just fine. "PCI Express 2.1 supports a large proportion of the management, support, and troubleshooting systems planned to be fully implemented in PCI Express 3.0. However, the speed is the same as PCI Express 2.0. Most motherboards sold currently come with PCI Express 2.0 connectors" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express - source

My opinion, go with something other than the Sandybridge. The motherboards have already been pullled off the market, as there is a problem with them.

The Sandybridge is too "New" for me. Just like with Operating Systems, I avoid new CPU's and motherboards until at least a year.

You can build an AMD based system cheaper that will handle Skyrim perfectly fine. I'm going AMD with my new build.

Yep, and unlike USB, PCIe versions are reverse compatible so you can use a 2.0 card in an older slot you just won't benefit from the improved performance and features of 2.0.

Edit: Well, I can't speak for USB 3.0 to 2.0 but 2.0 is definitely not usable on 1.0

The i500 isn't overclockable, you want the i500k. Really easy to clock over 4ghz and more bang for your buck. Also would at this stage in the market I would go for an ATI 6950 and flash the bios so it becomes a 6970. Worth the extra few quid. I'm in a rush right now but I will be back later to comment and ammend.
