So will this game be released for free like Daggerfall and A

its cheap as chips and well worth it - i got the GOTY edition about 4 years ago or so, and fresh off the shelf it only cost me the best part of ten dollars. new zealand dollars, which is probably 5 dollars american. you have no excuse not to own this game.

Morrowind runs well enough on modern hardware and still sells plenty of copies - I think they even still have physical copies in some stores! I don't think Bethesda would release the game for free, especially since they've recently started making firsthand profits off of it again through the Steam release.

I'm thinking for the next anniversary they'll release Battlespire and Redguard - both are great games but I think it'd be a little underwhelming if we only got one of them. And after that?

Eye of Argonia!

Morrowind still sell loads. Bethesda makes tonnes from it, unlike Arena / Daggerfall, peraps mostly due to the fact that it works fine on modern computers, without emulation. I doubt we'll see it free any time soon.

I want to see Redguard and Battlespire for download, myself. They're ridiculously hard to get, aswell. I need to trade my soul and some limbs for them nowadays. And I'm really quite interested in Redguard.

Stopped by my local Gamestop tonight. They had 2 360 GOTY's and 1 PC on the shelf, (both $17.99) clerk said they still sell a few a week. MW ain't gonna be free for a very long time.

I never played Morrowind, but I would if they released it for free. I can't be bothered to hunt it down.

It`s worth hunting down. With mods to take your mind off the edgy textures and bugs I`m betting you`ll like the storyline more than oblivion. Sure, mythic dawn & :obliviongate: might look better than sixth house & dagoth ur, but 10 oblivion gates and you kind of stop looking forward to the 11th. I would say that the gameplay & storyline is about as good as shivering isles. With the exception that Morrowind (and it`s expansions) has much more content than the Oblivion expansion.

Morrowind would have to stop making money for quite a while before it gets released for free.... short story I don't see that happening.

Seeing as how I make 55 thousand dollars, college, and a wife and kid to worry about, sorry I'm trying to get some stuff for free. That 20$ is usually the difference between my little boy getting what he needs and me going under. I don't have enough money or time to order it online, and so I was just asking if I could get it like Daggerfall and Arena. No need for the rant when you don't know ME.

And where did I say the game is bad? Please, point it out.

Well seeing as how you edited your post I can't find it. But the point you left is, "I can't bebothered to hunt it down." Why can't you be bothered? That to me sounds like you do not really care about the game. I can't remember what else you said that got me so upset. Sorry, I have a short fuse some times, so I apologize for telling you to frack off.

Nothing wrong in getting stuff for free my friend. I lost my job for over a year ago and nobody calling back. I can understand where you are. Even when I had a job I can understand what that $20 or going under means. I know all to well. It's just the way you made your post the first time. It was like a slap in the face to me.

If I can only go by what you said, here is a game I hold dear to my self and you say you can't be bothered. If you can't be bothered to find the game, why should we be bothererd to help you then? See what I mean there?

I never played Morrowind, but I would if they released it for free. I can't be bothered to hunt it down. Based on the fact Arena and Daggerfall have been released for free, do you think Morrowind will?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As someone else have said. I am looking forward to Redguard. I kick myself for not picking up that game. :(. I still have my Battlespire though. I wunder if we can even play multiplayer with that game if it's ever released for free and more people will have a copy of it.

Duuuuuude i bought the game for like AUS$90 when it was released with expansions. Basically the best $90 ive ever, ever spent.

Cough out the cash for it and enjoy. Best game ever made, no joke.

I should also like to quietly second the "Frack off" statement...

If you make 55k a year and can't figure out how to manage money well enough that $20 will make or break you, I suggest you go to some finance classes rather than spend your time playing video games.

I think anyone who didn't buy Morrowind up until the point it was free should be put in prison.

To answer your question though, I think it will be free. By 2012 we'll at least have a vague release date on the next Elder Scrolls, if not a soon release. Everyone will be looking towards that, maybe picking up Oblivion or trying Oblivion for the very first time, who knows. But I doubt Morrowind would be making very many sales anymore, so why not make it free? It'd probably help with hyping up the next Elder Scrolls.

I'm ready to buy a new copy soon. My Morrowind disk has gotten pretty scratched up over the years. My Tribunal & Bloodmoon disks are fine, as I've kept them in the case and have only had to use them a few times.
I bought the (I suppose) the Collectors Edition back in 2002 that came with the Morrowind Music Soundtrack CD, which I still have, albeit a little scratched up also....I kept it in my truck for a good long time.....AND....a little pewter Ordinator action figure swinging a mace....which I cherish.
I've been checking out eBay and have found several copies under $20.00 but I'll probably try and stumble across one locally. All I really need is a new play disk and I'll try to keep that one in good shape and use the one I have until it's rendered totally unplayable.....hopefully I'll be good for another 10 years or so.
I just never tire of this game....or Oblivion for that matter.

But FREE ? Who cares....it's only $20.00....probably find one for $10.00.....
I quit drinking....so that saves a lot right there.

My local EB games have been selling Morrowind at $5 for years. Every time I go in there to buy new games I manage to pick it up just to look at the cover and back...

Spring 2012 is Morrowind's ten year anniversary but the game is still available and still runs well on modern OSs so I'm skeptical that they'll release it for free.

I think you're probably right. The thing to remember is that both Arena and Daggerfall are old games that aren't readily available for purchase and take a lot of work to run on current operating systems, Morrowind, on the other hand, still seems to be much easier to get. Now, it may be released for free eventually, of course, but I'm quite sure it won't be available for free any time soon, after all, there wouldn't be much sense in releasing it for free if they can still profit from selling it. Whatever the case, if you want to play Morrowind, I'd suggest just buying it, if you enjoy the game, it will definately be worth the price, considering how long this game can keep one occupied. And if you end up not enjoying it... well, sometimes that kind of thing happens, and there's not much you can really do about it except regret spending your money on something you ended up not liking.

Aww  i wants it. But i dont think i can justify buying the game again just for the bonus items :D haha

The map from the original expansions box is actually my most prized possession, out of everything in my house. I often find myself thinking that iv been in a relationship with the map longer then i have with the gf. hahaha :hehe:
