Will you continue your bloodline in Skyrim?

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 2:05 am

First of all - I vaguely remember something like this from aaaages back- so I thought I'd re-kindle the discussion. Apologies if you think I've nicked your idea (which I haven't intentionally) or you think there is no discussion to kindle.

To those of you unfamiliar with the concept: A bloodline is your own story woven into that of The Elder Scrolls. It revolves around the idea that the characters you play in each of the games descend from each other (missing generations if time need be)

It can be anything from an excuse to play with a class you like to making personal mods for them (something I did in Oblivion- was only a little house though :P )

For example: My bloodline is that of the educated Breton battlemage. The main family home is in an idyllic location overlooking Illiac Bay. All the children of the large household train with sword and spell, and study with mind and body like their parents before them. They are highly trained warriors and their coming of age ritual is to wonder Tamriel (where they come into the games). They have spawned many legends - legends that only survived because of their prior conditioning and training. (I mean- come on- would you still be standing after a fireball to the face?)

But enough about me

Your thoughts and ideas Ladies and Gentlemen? Maybe you would like to swap tales of your ancestry by a warm hearth with some mead?

Yep, my character is actually descended from two of my Morrowind characters plus Julan. ;) Which means that he's actually only 3/4 Dunmer since his grandmother was a Breton. :)

Frosty was in Morrowind, and several of his sons, all named Frosty, were in Oblivion. The eldest son, Frosty is living agelessly in the Shivering Isles, and will emerge in Skyrim the same age he was in Oblivion. Several of this Frosty's great-nephews, mostly named Frosty, will be in Skyrim. Maybe a niece named Frosty too.

Malivio von Draxis is a vampire and has undead since Morrowind, as have plenty others I bet. The only thing that changes is the skill set, but always a blood thristy Breton

I always make the same race, sometimes the same name, but I prefer storyline-wise to have them be random people. Kind of http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BadassNormal.

I clicked on the thread thinking that the term bloodline was a reference to a vampire quest or some sort of association of NPCs (or PCs) through vampirism.

I suppose if your Oblivion character has vampirism, it's possible they could still be around a few centuries later, right?

I have used the same character since Morrowind.
And as
Spoiler
he's the Nerevarine

he will still be alive throughout the series.

Here is my bloodline:

1. The PC in Arena is my chars Great-Grandfather.

2. The PC in Daggerfall is my chars Grandfather.

3. The Nerevarine in Morrowind is my chars Dad.

4. The Grand Champion is my character.

For Skyrim, my character will have gotten himself captured in Oblivion two years after the Oblivion Crisis. He will wake up 200 years later just in time to save Skyrim :D

Uhh, Bloodline would kinda be impossible, aren't you the Dragonborn?

I like preserving the realism(accuracy to lore, etc.) factor myself. Regardless, DUNMER ALL THE WAY!

So he was frozen somewhere, sort of like Bruce Lee?

I always make my characters Ayleids from the same bloodline. I loved Oblivion even more for this because I could actually change the skin color to match what was described of the Ayleids (Darker than High elves and lighter than Dark Elves)

A good idea for roleplaying, especially since Vampirism did begin in the Jerral Mountains.

No bloodlines here, although I did once pretend that my Eternal Champion knew the father of one of my Oblivion characters. Deep stuff. :P

I'll start anew, as always. Perhaps I'll play as an Altmer (for the first time in any TES game, ever) just to see how the Nords react.

I've said 'yes' to both, but that technically isn't true. Having the same person show up in every game (though not as a hero, just another character) isn't quite a bloodline, and knowing how said person is effectively relegated to god-like status and even banished from Nirn in the first place is going to take a lot of explaining, particularly in Skyrim since time has majorly advanced. It's... complicated...

Most of my characters tend to be individuals unrelated to anyone else, but sometimes I'll have two people be directly connected to each other, whatever that relationship might be. Again, usually it's not really a bloodline, since they tend to be contemporary, but it just depends what sort of mood I'm in.

well, not so much a bloodline, just a... damn, whats the word for it...

been forgetting alot of stuff lately... meh, anyway... my dunmer character in morrowind was a blade-mage, he eventually took up a student, another dunmer, and taught him everything he knew, before being swept away to a new land, leaving him to be the next savior of tamriel.

between the time of morrowind and oblivion, my character's student moved to cyrodiil, finding morrowind a bit unpleasant, even more so with his master and his master's family and friends also gone [i had several other characters, a wife for my hero, and friends/allies, who eventually departed from morrowind as well]

after growing a bit in cyrodiil and facing great challenges such as facing the oblivion crisis alongside a friend, i think who was a breton, not sure... then becoming the next divine crusader and finishing pelinal's work by ending umaril's existence, and helping the mages and fighters guilds [i had an argonian female help the thieves guild, and a khajiit assassin help the dark brotherhood, the thief was friendly and kind, my assassin never spoke a word during his existence]

at one point, my dunmer saved dar-ma from hackdirt, they fell in love, and married, and settled down in chorrol, so she could remain by her mother.

thats about all, in a nutshell [pretty big nut...]

so, i suppose i may have my new hero be a descendant of my oblivion hero... lots of mixed blood in him, but he'll be a dunmer, most likely.

i would've had an even bigger line of heroes, but i never had a chance to play the old TES games, unfortunately... my first one was morrowind on xbox.

if i ever do get the chance to play them someday, if i can find out how to get the games, they'd cost a fortune to buy online... i'll probably go back and create the line of heroes from the beginning and connect it to my current line.

My main character never could keep a man and creating a bloodline...what with having the curse of Hircine and whatnot. :spotted owl:

No, my character has kept herself alive and her appearance through her vast pool of magicka.
