Will you ever play Oblivion again?

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 10:19 am

I sure will. I still play Morrowind to this day. Sometimes I'll start a character in Morrowind and then take it into Oblivion once I've exhausted it. Now I'll probably carry on into Skyrim too. Sometimes it's nice to have an hour of nostalgia here and there.

i will play for a challenge - after a year of half year brake.. install the game, mod with ooo and other fancy mods and play without death.. Challenging, yet fun and not boring, because you simply run through quests and take loot and finish the game :)

I will, if only to occasionally revisit the familiar. I still love certain places there, like Anvil and the view from Frostcrag Spire. In fact, I like to think I can see into Skyrim from Frostcrag Spire and imagine the adventures that await me there. Yeah, there's definitely something wrong with me. :)

I have Oblivion but for some reason I never actually played it. Just played the FO series really. But yes, I will definitely play Oblivion, especially since it will still be new for me...

It was moved because it has nothing to do with Skyrim.

Yes, I'll play Oblivion again. Just like I'll play Morrowind again and Daggerfall. Granted, it probably won't be for a while. But I've got time.

It'll be hard for me to go back if I end up blasting through Skyrim like I did with Oblivion, and again with Morrowind. I'll be too used to one system and begin to not enjoy the older ones as much. It's a gamer quirk of mine I wish I didn't have.

In order for me to back back through older games is if I let them sit for years, coming back to it then might feel a little more nostalgic, than a hassle doing what I've already done many times over. Surely, I'll feel the same way about Skyrim after a few playthroughs and such.

I played Oblivion on PC back then, ... Turned on cheats when going vampiric and all.

Now I play Oblivion on PS3, ... I just turned vampiric, and with no cheats ... I'll go at it the hard way. I'm going to enjoy that !

I don't understand the attitude of some gamers who put aside one game when a new game in a series comes out. To me, if a game was worth playing last year it is worth playing today and if it's worth playing today it will be worth playing next year.

When a new book is published I don't stop reading the author's older works. When a director releases a new film I don't stop watching his or her old films. Why would I stop playing a game permanently merely because a new game in a series has been released?

If i didn't enjoy the film the first time around, why would I want to keep watching it? I could have answered the question "Probably not" long before 11/11/11, unless someone makes a really significant mod (akin to the Morrowind Code Patch) that affects the whole feel and balance of the game (unlike OOO and the other major overhauls, which only put a rather nice bandage on top of the underlying problems).

I assumed it would be understood that my hypothetical example referred to a director whose films I enjoyed. But I will add a few words to my original post to avoid misunderstandings.

Yes. In fact, even though I just played Skyrim (it's freakin awesome, by the way), I feel like playing OB.
Will keep playing Morrowind as well, of course. That game is always installed on my PC.

I don't know. It's sounds and looks like Skyrim is just so much better in every possible way.

I'll never leave Morrowind or Daggerfall though. They stand the test of time.

I believe Oblivion doesn't.

I played for about 2 hours and based on what I've seen so far...I don't think I'll be playing Oblivion again for a while. What will probably bring me back are the great mods. I have Oblivion for PS3 and the PC and my guess is that my PS3 version will never see the light of day again.

dont have skyrim yet dont really care at this moment (I'm dealing with an absessed tooth right know), I distinctly remember these type of questions about morrowind when oblivion came out.

frankly I don't mind oblivion so long as it has about 83 mods deemed necessary by me to play it.

I greatly prefer morrowind

I think this is a stupid question. Of course I will play Oblivion again. I'm playing it right now. Heck, there are people who still play Daggerfall!

I think it's safe to say that the answer is "yes," even after I (eventually) get Skyrim. Chances are, though, it'll be like it is today; it's one of the least-played games in my library, and ranks behind Daggerfall in TES games I play. (though at times it also passes behind Morrowind, too) Chances are it'll take a permanent third place behind Morrowind; not sure where Skyrim will fit once I've played "through" it enough for its newness to wear off.

Oblivion was a disappointment compared to Morrowind. I spent most of my time searching for mods to make Oblivion enjoyable.

About 10 hours into playing Skyrim, I thought to myself I think I might try Oblivion again. After finishing Oblivion once I could never get into play it again. But I've played Daggerfall and Morrowind multiple times.
