Will you ever try a no-mods playthrough?

You actually play with the vanilla HUD and menu system?

Yup.

I always have... Problem with it?

Depends on how much of the game I dislike. UI issues (of which it's looking like the inventory at least will have some) demand immediate modding, for example.

I think it's a waste to play the very first playthough WITH mods....but whatever.

My first one will be 100% Vanilla. All my next ones will be with mods, starting from simple ones to remove annoyances or nice house mods to questmods and other major ones.

2. Skyrim Perk Extension
  • change the perk level limit cap from level 50 to level 70

More than likely, that will be hardcoded into the executable. You'd have to create a game patch to do that.

I might mod the UI, if it's terrible.

I might... nah, probably not.

I just love the BTMod in OB.

Considering I finally decided to add just two mods to Oblivion not too long ago, most likely I'll be playing several playthroughs with no mods. The only two I added to Oblivion was one that added a non-enchanted version of the Imperial dragon armor that you get at the end that you have to buy, and a "guest room" at Cloud Ruler Temple, cause I hate hunting for an unused bed space. Other than that, I don't use mods.

Biased poll. Where's the option to try ALL your playthroughs un-modded? I'm a PC user, and I'm yet to use one single mod.

There should be this option: Yes, and I'll likely never use mods.

Honestly, I play on pc, and I think a lot of people on pc go a little mod-crazy, especially with Bethesda games. I love the modding community, and always eventually make and use a bunch of mods just to toy around with stuff, but I don't see how anyone can really enjoy modding without even playing through the game.

Maybe it's just me, but I usually just use visual mods, bugfixes, and things like that to enhance the experience Bethesda gives us, I rarely make or use mods that alter it so drastically as some of the mods out there do.

My first play through will be mod free. I will probably wait to mod the game, until plenty of time to pass for people to identify what needs to be modded. Also, time for moders to polish their creations.

The only mods I have ever used were Tamriel Rebuilt and Less Generic NPCs in Morrowind, so unmodded probably.

Plus, it'll take a while before people figure out the new CK and start pushing out mods beyond really basic stuff (like overpowered equipment, or simple "turn off half the UI" things)

There should be an option for the first playthrough and some after. I did 3 playthroughs on Morrowind in Vanilla, then only one modded.

I'll do what I always do ( as I did for both Oblivion and Morrowind ): Instead of doing a real playthrough, I will start to play the game randomly and without mods, looking at the vanilla content and making mental notes about what has to be changed and what has to be added.

I both download and create mods. I can make things by myself if I can't find them.

My first playthrough will likely be mod-free with the exception of perhaps a UI mod like BT mod or MTUI.

To all the PC folks saying they don't like/use mods you should at least take a look at things like the Unofficial patches. It doesn't add content or anything like that per say, mainly just lots of bug fixes.

:hugs: i knew there was one pc player out there who could accept a game for what it is and i have found said player

Seeing as how it's going to be a while for mods to pop up, I will definitely play moddless for a while. But as a rule of thumb, I don't mod my game to flipping hell, unless there are bugs that need fixing, and certain gameplay features really need to be fixed (a significant portion of OB was this for me). Once I had my vanilla fill, I then look for the fun stuff, like nice equipment, quest mods, and texture mods if I want things to look nicer.

From the E3 demo, there was nothing about the UI or menus that I like, so I'll unquestionably be using the first mod available for that.

Outside of that, I'm just going to play it by ear. I do know that it takes me a couple real years and 400 game hours to 'finish' a playthrough, so my first playthrough will be my only playthrough. How do you guys log several playthroughs? Fly through the MQ and start over again?
