Will you miss the wait?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 2:46 pm

As strange as it sounds, I will miss waiting for Fallout 4. The buildup and anticipation, the scrounging for new videos, reading the hypothetical lore that’s playing out on the forums – I will miss that. The same happened whenever Oblivion was about to come out. I would peruse the forums and get enveloped in the hype and atmosphere of speculative conversation. I vividly remember when Beth released information about NPCs new “Radiant AI”, there were posts from users stating they were going to buy up all the food in a town, starve villagers for days, then drop a piece of bread in the town square and watch the mayhem as the villagers killed each other for it – turned out to be total BS, mind you, but it was still fun to dream up those types of scenarios.

They say anticipation releases dopamine, so I guess I will be happier and happier and the days draw nearer.

I don't think I'll have a problem. When game play starts the forums will explode with questions and such so the activity will go off the scale. The waiting time will be soon forgotten IMO.

I wanna get my hands on the game, but yeah, I will miss the anticipation. Always nice when you've got something to look forward too. The thought of Fallout 4 has got me through some tough shifts at work lately.

Exactly, don't start missing it too soon. It'll be back before you know it, and it is a suffering that will last for many years... before you finally get a taste of that sweet dopamine again.

Like a dehydrated man wandering the wasteland, on the brink of death and insanity, finding a small puddle of highly irradiated water. Savor it my friend! Every last drop of it.

No I personally won't miss it, I'm an incredibly impatient sort... I hate waiting.

Well said.

Still, I won't miss it, because I really didn't feel anything while waiting for this game. All my hype is focused on trying to get a Fallout Anthology copy (one of the last) ASAP.

Not me. I am glad that Beth waited so long to announce the game to begin with. Waiting is the hardest part.

Always will be a fun memory thinking of the lead up to the final moment. Watching the SPECIAL videos with my kids and hearing their giggles is what will be most cherished out of all the waiting moments. Although, even more so will be the first moment we all play FO4. Now this will be the Crème de la crème!

What is this? The hype version of the Stockholm Syndrome or something?

No, I'll be playing it instead.

No way. If anticipation releases dopamine, I'm sure I'll be positively drowning in it while finally playing Fallout 4.

I'll admit the anticipation can be a little sweet ---- especially with the little droplets of new info they give us (SPECIAL) like feeding a gerbil through an eyedropper ----- but there will come a point, and I fear I'm close to it, where the anticipation will start to become annoying and I'll ~lose~ interest. They chose a pretty good time frame to release the game. From announce to gameplay, six months is just about right to drive us into a frenzy but not SO long we get "burned out" on the wait (although there are already "burned-out" threads here)....

Unfortunately totally agree. Another month and I may be playing Super Mario Bros. 1. :stare:

But seriously, it's getting very close to the burned out edge.

I will forget the wait soon enough. When the waiting is over. I just start to wait another thing. Xmass, UPS driver who carry bunch of boxes to my door that sort of thing. Altough I have not been this exited since Witcher 3.

Exactly. The next big anticipation is CK's release and mods that will come after it. And the wait for the patches and DLC's from BGS. And then wait for all the mods to get updated to catch up with patches and DLC's. I have plenty to look forward to for next few years. And then another big anticipation: TES VI.

Don't worry... After we play the heck out of Fallout 4 we will have elder scrolls 6 to wait for! :) how can Bethesda be so good as to make both games!!!

Wait? What wait?

:-)

This has been a breeze compared to Skyrim (and definitely not as interminable as the wait for Destiny, BioShock infinite, DAI).

And I applaud Beth for not giving the press any taste of the game to this point. THAT decision made the wait a cakewalk.

Nah i wont have an issue with the wait being over  (even though i did forget about the FO4 release and only remembered last week.. wish i remembered 1 day in advance lol)

Most forums will be completely abandoned upon launch that i know off, and after a few days it will be filled with questions and spoilers.

Don't know about this forum in particular though..
