Will you play daggerfall in preperation for skyrim?

Post » Sat Jul 31, 2010 4:18 am

seeing as there are giants and spiders returning, it may be good to play daggerfall once more. (these creatures appeared in DF)

goto uesp and daggerfall > files and DL it straight to your desktop with no dosbox shenanigans.

Yep! Infact I will play through each and every TES. Especially The Arena, and Daggerfall. Since I've played them the least.

I don't think I will be. It's just a little bit too old for me to revisit. I mean, the ugly faces in Oblivion sometimes bother me, so I don't think I could tolerate Daggerfall.

Downloaded it and started playing it once the official TES site allowed downloading it again. Would have probably played it over a year ago but I couldn't get Dosbox to work correctly on my old computer.

I'm currently playing with a nord warrior in Daggerfall. I downloaded Daggerfall a couple of weeks ago and it's a really cool game.

Wait, what? Because they have a couple of creatures in common playing Daggerfall is preparation for Skyrim? Heh. I may play Daggerfall, but because it is a good game, not as preparation.

I don't think a year has gone by without me playing at least a little Daggerfall since 1995. So to answer your question, yes. :)

Actually I'm playing Daggerfall for the first time now since I wanted to play TES again after reading all the news about Skyrim, but I wanted to try something new, not OB or MW.

But it's not a preparation for Skyrim.

Remember, it is far from finished, but at the rate he has been working on it, I am sure it will be fully released at one point. DaggerXL will even add mod support. :celebration:

I believe you fought an Imp.

Yes, don't fight that Imp unless you started with an Ebony Dagger (from your background). It will totally wreck you.

I'm waiting for DaggerXL before starting another playthrough (no hurry :P), but I've played Daggerfall in the past. I'm now playing Morrowind again. No need to wait for Skyrim to get great graphics and dynamic shadows. :P

Getting it to work is rather difficult. I cannot exit out of DOSBOX after creating a game without the entire file being screwed up. That and the controls are absolutely abysmal and I'm not sure whether tinkering with them is screwing up my game. I'll do my best to play all three in the inter-midden time, but I don't expect much of Daggerfall to be done.

No, I have too much trouble attacking in the game. I'm like moving the mouse and the guy just stands there doing nothing. I don't remember these issues from when I initially played it. Either I was more tolerant of a crappy interface back then or it works poorly with my system through dosbox.

Make sure to hold down right click and drag at the same time. Otherwise you won't attack. Holding down right click is imperative.

Changing the controls is not damaging your game. Change them as much as you wish.

firstly, did you activate mouse look?

if so then check out the button to deactivate 'cursor'. (middle mouse wheel works best imo)

GoodguyA... read the OP again. You dont even need dosbox.
