I don't know. I figure I'll decide which way I wanna go after I get the game installed and read the differences in the game booklet.

I may just play on my second, but most likely I will only play on hc mode everytime. I like in games where you barely have enough bullets to kill three raiders, let alone have enough to kill 100. I like to struggle and I'm a scavenger so I need someone to hold me accountable. I also hope they change the cheats for New vegas because I don't want to be tempted to play in god mode. Oblivion has the same cheats as FO3 and I was bad. :sadvaultboy:

Heh, I played a full day in godmode going down a story line I hadn't previously planned on playing one day in Oblivion.

The one thing I'm not sure I'll like in hardcoe mode that I'm seeing is that bullets will have weight. I'm one of those folks that always has one of everything in their inventory so I can always use the optimal weapon against a given foe... and I'm just a freakin' packrat. Not sure how I'll do with weight to my ammo. I've never played the realism mods in Oblivion or FO3 but always kinda wanted to try them.

I'm pretty sure it was announced somewhere that there will be an option to toggle ammo weight on/off for hardcoe mode :)

Personally i think it will be pretty cool because if my inventory is full and there's hella more loot it gives me a reason to return and re-explore :)

I voted I Don't know...well because I have mixed feelings, honesty having a difficulty slider for Ammo, Money and loot would be enough for me. I like HC mode but I'm a bit worried that having to sleep, eat and drink may detract from the experience/being annoying (I tried a similar mod in Oblivion and didn't like but of course this game is way different). Food and drink would become useful (unlike F3) which means I can't sell it = less money (I like). Ammo and carrying supplies adds weight, this means I can't carry as much = less junk to sell to make money (I kind of like but may be slightly annoying cause I can't hoard stuff). If its true about being able to switch over from HC then I'll most likely go with it the first time.

Does any one know if HC mode will make it harder finding loot and money? (by which I mean you get less loot completing missions or looting things) If so I'm sold! I literally want to start the game with just my underwear and really have to fight to get my equipment.

I really haven't planned a set time I'll play hardcoe, but I know I'm definitely starting my main (1st playthrough) with normal. Then I'd say once I find the game getting a bit more boring and easy, I'll switch to hardcoe.
For the sake of the poll, I voted 2nd playthrough though.

As I understand it, toggling it off is permanent to that session (requiring a reload if its done by mistake, or you change your mind).

My first playthrough is going to be on hardcoe and Very Hard. It's mainly because this game has a definitive ending and I want the game to last as long as possible until they release the DLC to fix the problem.

I'll play on hardcoe for my second playthrough.I don't want any sort of limitations for exploration(extra weight and needing to drink, eat and sleep) so I'll just wait until I'm officially done with my main playthrough before I start my second.

Definitely going for HC on my first playthrough - I want the feeling of the wasteland being a dangerous and unknown place, and a sense of reward and achievement as I make it to new areas. I think it will make the first playthrough last longer as well, which to me is a good thing, and if HC turns out to be boring rather than difficult I can always disable it. For my second playthrough,I'm planning on playing with the Wild Wasteland perk and any entertaining mods that have been released, and just generally messing around a lot more. Between the different modes and different factions, I'm really looking forward to taking my time with a few playthoughs of this game.

It depends.

Besides healing slowly, ammo weight, needing to rest, eat, and drink, does HC effect combat difficulty derectly?

I want the realism, but I hate having to shoot something a million times to kill it. That’s boring.

First. I want as much challenge as I can get.

I agree with you on that one. if you don't go hardcoe on your first play through, then chances are you won't at all on any of your players!

When I first heard about the hardcoe mode it sounded great, but then I heard about the need for sleep which is something I really dislike in RPGs. I'll certainly try hardcoe mode 'as is' but I suspect I'll want to mod out that requirement (if that's possible) or wait until there's a fan-made equivalent that doesn't have this. As such I'll do my first play through without it and then check out my options with my second play through.

I think food/bed will appear more often so it won't be like "Oh [censored] I'm in the middle of the desert and out of food water and I haven't slepped for days"

Couldn’t agree more. One of my favourite memories of playing Fallout 3 was when, level 3-10, you ran out of ammo on a hunting rifle or something and only had a baton or fists to fight off raiders or molerats! Such a sense of, relief/achievement.

With regard to hardcoe personally, I will try first and everytime on HC. As others have said before with FO3, you felt like walking the wasteland was survival from other beings, such as raiders or animals rather than the elements themselves (Ehhh this place had just been nuked, should I really just be walking about??) . With New Vegas, I really love the idea that you have to have common sense to survive.
"Shall I just walk across this desert till I reach my destination with 10,000 bullets weighting absolutely nothing in my bag?"

Or, "Crap, that desert is huge, im going to need at least 6 bottles of water, which leaves me with enough space for a hunting rifle and 30 bullets" Sounds realistic! And that’s what I want! Sometimes travelling from one destination to another in Fallout 3 was mundane, especially past level 20. A Deathclaw was the only thing that would make you pause. Even then you could just get out a mini nuke...

There will be no pleasure for me to complete the game on Normal. In any playthrough. :fallout:

I don't anticipate ever playing it without using HC mode. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and beyond (if any).

Probably the second. I want to enjoy it the first time around without that amount of challenge.

I'll start on very hard hardcoe mode for the first playthough

also I'll remove the [EMPTY] tag from containers and I'll make it that weapons have 100% chance of failing to reload because of low durability

I'll also increase all NPC and enemies's HP by 50%

oh and I'll set HUD transaprency to 100%

let's see who can be more masochist.
