Definitely going for HC on my first playthrough - I want the feeling of the wasteland being a dangerous and unknown place, and a sense of reward and achievement as I make it to new areas. I think it will make the first playthrough last longer as well, which to me is a good thing, and if HC turns out to be boring rather than difficult I can always disable it. For my second playthrough,I'm planning on playing with the Wild Wasteland perk and any entertaining mods that have been released, and just generally messing around a lot more. Between the different modes and different factions, I'm really looking forward to taking my time with a few playthoughs of this game.
Couldn’t agree more. One of my favourite memories of playing Fallout 3 was when, level 3-10, you ran out of ammo on a hunting rifle or something and only had a baton or fists to fight off raiders or molerats! Such a sense of, relief/achievement.
With regard to hardcoe personally, I will try first and everytime on HC. As others have said before with FO3, you felt like walking the wasteland was survival from other beings, such as raiders or animals rather than the elements themselves (Ehhh this place had just been nuked, should I really just be walking about??) . With New Vegas, I really love the idea that you have to have common sense to survive.
"Shall I just walk across this desert till I reach my destination with 10,000 bullets weighting absolutely nothing in my bag?"
Or, "Crap, that desert is huge, im going to need at least 6 bottles of water, which leaves me with enough space for a hunting rifle and 30 bullets" Sounds realistic! And that’s what I want! Sometimes travelling from one destination to another in Fallout 3 was mundane, especially past level 20. A Deathclaw was the only thing that would make you pause. Even then you could just get out a mini nuke...
There will be no pleasure for me to complete the game on Normal. In any playthrough. :fallout:
