Will you play hardcoe 1st play through or 2nd

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:17 pm

Ill do hardcoe on second playthrough so I know where to find extra supplies.

That just seems like cheating. The purpose of hardcoe is to make the game harder. If you know where everything is, how is that making it harder for you then?

I am going to try hardcoe 1st time just for this reason. I have restartis. I am hoping to play this game and not restart anymore and actually play it with my first character which I have never done before. I have feeling the disease of restartitis will rear it's ugly head, but I will try at least.

You only have one try to make the game fresh and new only once. So this will be my time to try it.

1st playthrough. I have a question though, is hardcoe mode a difficulty itself, like Easy, Hard etc...or a toggable (?!?) option ?

Yes and no. Hard core is toggable where if you choose to play it in the begining and find it to hard or you do not like it, you can switch it off. But you can't turn it back on afterwards though so you have to be carefull when you do this.

I have been playing the exact hardcoe mode by mods, on Fallout 3 already, so i will definently put hardcoe mode in my first playthrough. I even occasionally play with 3-5 lives to make it even more challenging ;)

2nd playthrough. I'm going to complete the mainquest on a standard playthrough, then go through the game more thoroughly on a hardcoe playthrough.

What the heck? Now, I didn't read all the other posts, but are people out of their minds? 63% are gonna try hardcoe mode on first playthrough? Well, who knows. Maybe I'm overestimating things. Personally I'm going to play without hardcoe first, to get a sense of what the game is like (similar to FO3, yes, but yet so unfamiliar), and then when I'm a bit less confused I'm going to try hardcoe. Otherwise I can't imagine any other effect than me running out into the desert and dying within the first 10 minutes.

Second time. I tend to get turned around a lot the first time through, especially something this big so it'll allow me to get enough of my bearings that I can play hardcoe without dying because of stupid screw ups but rather from actual screw ups. If its as hard as it seems then even playing through once probably won't kill the challenge of it all, especially the whole no instant healing bit.

Although it's not exactly the same, I consider the entirety FO3 to be in "normal mode" so:

  • I'm carrying an arsenal of weight-free bullets
  • I have a fridge full of food and drink I barely touch except to put more food and drink in
  • Aside from the occasional nap to reset my "well rested" bonus, my character never sleeps
  • Except for very rare occasions, even in "very hard" mode, I almost never fear death because it's easy to spam my shortcut to stimpacks to avert death almost every time

So yes, I'm going to play hardcoe in NV... :)

Are you out of your mind, I can say. I am joking if you don't get the sarcasm. The way I see it, is why play a game, that is suppose to be harder, but you already know what is going to happen?

You might as well play it the first time, so you can't cheat, because you know where everything, or at least where the begining things are.

What's wrong with dying in the first ten minutes? It adds realism to the game instead of fo3 style when the only chance you had of dying was lvl2-4 and if you didn't see a deathclaw sneak up behind you. I think it's awesome that you could literally starve to death in the desert,it happens in RL so why not in fnv. So yes HC mode for me, I don't see the point of playing a game where there is almost nil chance of you dying. "or getting crippled in the mojave desert and running out of supplies...so hot....1 nuka cola..."

i think he meant dying every 10 minutes you go without a drink.

not dying because of enemy diffuculty

First, if non-hc is as easy as FO3 then it'll be too easy, i love a challenge and challenge makes the game longer and more fun

So you don't have any desire to see what the differences will be?

I have a feeling it would be alot like playing FO3. Will there be different quests for hardcoe Mode and not having it? If not, then I will stick to hardcoe Mode for the challenge of it. I want to have to sleep, eat and drink, for my ammo to have weight.

I can't imagine that playing FO:3 would be the same experience since it's an entire different team of devs developing it. Since I will be playing the game out both ways, I'll let you know. ;)

I would only bother with casual mode if there were some unique content (quests, dialogue, maybe gear) that didn't exist in hardcoe mode. The way I see it, HC mode will give you the most "complete" fallout experience.

hardcoe, First Playthrough, the challenge is going to be great. And Wild Wasteland will help lift the mood of the treacherous wasteland :D

Maybe my 80's music will as well, it feels more fitting than the 1950s theme imo, atleast, from what I can see. xD

Someone should make a total conversion mod that diverges the timeline from the 80's instead of the 50's.
Would be awesome. ^^,
