Yeah, exactly. If I watch a foreign language film I'd rather watch it with subtitles than dubbing. Dubbing or cheap translation (in the case of a video game/animated film) usually ruins it.
It's not really about which language suits a game/film (e.g. there's no reason why German should sound bad in the context of Skyrim), it's about the standard of acting. If you're watching a French film, for example, you're watching some talented actors on screen and having a terrible English speaking actor talking over the top of it. Even if it's a good actor, they're usually working from a translation so therefore missing some nuances of the original dialogue.
