Will You Still Play This After The New Game?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:59 pm

So assuming the next game is awesome and everybody loves it..... do you think you will ever make a serious play through of Oblivion again?

I know i probably will, because it's like, my favourite game :)

I won't even begin to look or pay any attention until it's been out for at least a year, maybe two. I'll definitely stay with Oblivion while the community wiki's, patches, sorts out the glitches, expansions and DLCs come out and get sorted, the mod community develops mods for it. . . .

Yeah, I avoid new games until they're well sorted out. If my character runs out of things to do in Cyordiil, we will simply start her over or perhaps visit Morrowind or Valenwood.

I'll probably stick with Oblivion for a while after the new games is released (Unless it is set in Black Marsh) but I will definitely play on Oblivion for years to come. ^_^

Of course I will. *boggles*

I'll play Oblivion as long as I have a computer that will run it. I still play Morrowind. I still play Baldur's Gate 1. A good game never becomes obsolete.

Can't say for sure? Lots of things come in to play. Will my then current computer run the new game well enough (or at all) at launch to make a switch worthwhile? Will I buy it at full price, or wait till the expense hits a more reasonable level? I'll also want to know a good bit about the next Elder Scrolls before deciding if it's worth playing.

I pre-ordered PC Oblivion through a local retail store. But... when it's requirements were announced it was obvious my computer couldn't run it. (1ghz CPU, 1gb ram, Geforce 4 graphics.) By the time I got around to building an Oblivion-worthy system, I was committed to an MMO (no, not THAT one) and not looking for new adventures. I finally took the plunge last year (2009) when PC Oblivion GOTY hit the $20 mark. Nice thing about waiting so long is that by then the game had a mature modding community with many fine available offerings.

Too, I'm still hooked on Oblivion and have no overwhelming desire to abandon it.

I'd like to think that modded PC Oblivion is good enough to leave on my hard drive regardless of what the next Elder Scrolls brings to the table. If nothing else, I'll likely leave it installed to experience new mods that tickle my fancy. Those are bound to crop up from time to time, as they still do for Morrowind (and even Daggerfall, should the DaggerXL project reach maturity).

But again, who knows?

Probably a lot less when I first get TES V, but it doesn't mean I will never again play Oblivion. I still play Morrowind too, obviously.

No I won't wait .. well yeah I will ... kinda. This is what will happen based on the last two TES games. We get the game the day it comes out. Hubby checks out the specs needed then we load it up together, I watch while he plays. I start taking mental notes of stuff that either doesn't make sense or I don't like. He starts making mental notes of computer stuttering, graphic glitches, slowdowns, whatever. He loads up a sneaky assassin type character, then I load up my first love which is a caster. Then we play. After probably about 50 or so game hours for each of us, he tells me what he thinks we need in terms of hardware. And knowing me like he does, adjusts it up higher for my mod addiction. I look at my machine with a sad face and continue playing on his! He upgrades the computer checks it out, let's mine keeping dying her horrible death. Then we wait for expansions, buy the GOTY edition (this way we have two games and can both play at the same time if we want to) and he fixes my puter! By then, mods are out, I've already checked out what I need and want for that and we are good to go. So usually about a year after a game is released, we get settled LOL

I won't play Oblivion for a long time after the ESV is released. But I will play oblivion again, just like I will always play morrowind even though Oblivion is out.

I really don't know, but for different reasons.

I'm having some serious angst about this issue. Right now, I'm in college, double major, but this is my last year. Being a student, I have a bit of time for video games - while I'm working in the Library (I'm just a warm body talking books or logging people onto computers), sometimes at home at night between homework. I can log onto the forum between classes or at night before I go to bed. I can stay up late playing Oblivion and just be tired in class.

By the time Elder Scrolls V comes out, I'll be in graduate school or working. And work doesn't always cooperate with video games. Last summer, when I did an intership for the Smithsonian, not only did I not even look at a video games for over six weeks, I was working on a project that involved scanning large numbers of huge - HUGE - graphic images onto my hard drive. I finally ran out of space and, to free it up, I had to ... gulp ... remove Oblivion and all my mods.

So I hope I get a chance to play Elder Scrolls V. But I don't think I'll ever again have the time to play video games that I have right now. It's kinda sad, actually ....

I can't keep my hands off of Oblivion...It's a lot of fun! And I like making up new characters with different backstories. So far, I've played through the Mage's Guild more times than I can remember, but that's because I have 2 characters that are in the magic trade (that, and playing it on separate consoles >.> )

Sure, the newest one may come out, and I might keep my attention on that for a long while...But that doesn't mean Oblivion will be dead to me. Shoot, I think it'll be the only game with Daedra that I LIKE...Dremoras have caught my fancy :3 But I have a feeling the next game will NOT have Dremora in them :/

I'll be grabbing TESV as soon as I can get a copy and Oblivion can wait until I feel like playing it again.... All I need now is for the new game to get released. ;) I won't be waiting for mods or patches, I'll grab those when they become available.

I don't play new games when they first come out-- I let other people pay to be beta-testers, then, when the game is patched and stable, I play it.

And I'll undoubtedly, eventually, play Oblivion again. I've played through Morrowind twice since I got Oblivion.

For that matter, I'll undoubtedly play Daggerfall again, sooner or later.

I might even play Redguard again.

If you have nothing useful too add to this discussion, please refrain from making posts. And on-topic, yes I'll probably still play oblivion and morrowind but probably not at first.

I play Daggerfall and Morrowind, still. Just like many of you, it seems  So I don't see why not.

While we're on the subject of all TES titles, I yearn for another full scale world like Daggerfall. It's the main reason I keep going all the way back there. I don't care at all if the assets are repetitive and every piece of scenery isn't hand crafted. These teeny maps that take 15 minutes to cross are really annoying. And before you say noooo Morrowind is huge, I'll have you know that it's 7.9 square miles, and Daggerfall is 62,394. It also has mind-bogglingly huge maze-like dungeons.

I still play Morrowind occasionally, so I don't see why I wouldn't play Oblivion after TES5 is released.

I think the OP meant "will you still play Oblivion SOMETIMES, when the new game comes out".

My answer is; I'm still playing Morrowind, ffs.

Depends on what TESV will be like. Oblivion has it's charm, but it also has it's :swear: :banghead: moments too. Though i doubt i'll ever completely stop playing Oblivion, i still regularly play trough Doom too, after all :lmao:

If I'm not 100 years old by the time the next eslder scrolls comes out I will for sure play it the day it comes out. But when I beat it and run out of stuff to do I'll probably just go back to Oblivion for a bit, just for nastolgia's sake.
