Will Your Character Be Based on Anyone?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 7:42 am

As the title says, will your character be based on anyone, either from fiction or non-fiction?

I am planning on making a character based on Han Solo from Star Wars... But In a female form. Aka high perception, charisma, agility, luck, and of course lazer gun skills! I'm still undecided about her name, although I'm leaning towards a [censored]y name like Victoria... Here's hoping that the robot has that name saved for voice options! :D

Not directly no, tho I might draw inspiration from a mix of characters, combined into a original character.

My char is based on my old CK2 character. Empress Hodor of House Hodor. A crazy power hungry lunatic.

Most of the time, my first characters in a RPG represent my likeliness in what I would do. Although I'm tempted to just recreate my recent Fallout 3 character, because I loved the story I told in that playthrough so much. Started out as a reasonable, and highly intelligent individual that turned into a ruthless, psychotic, almost raider-like drifter that kills and partakes in other inhumane odd jobs for pay without really knowing why.

I hope Fallout 4's story doesn't intrude too much on it if I decide to do the latter.

Lots of originality here! Truth be told, I wouldn't mind making a character based off myself, but only if the robot can call me Johnny and not just John, lol.

Nope. My character will be based on a man or woman (still haven't decided which I'll play first) that wakes up after 200 years in a destroyed world. I may even start all the SPECIAL stats even across the board making it an average character. I'll decide which way I want to build the character's strengths as the story progresses. Most likely a stealthy character, but I'll wait and see.

Not any one in particular no, but I will be basing them off historical archetypes. 20's style gangster, slinky Cold War era assassin/spy, etc.

My character is kind of inspired by Ripley from the Alien movies, but more as a jumping-off point than anything.

An amalgam of several John Wayne and Clint Eastwood characters, but younger.

Grew up ranching with good parents, so he's got that John Wayne "white knight with know-how". Joined the army, lots of decorations. Now he's woken up in a world where none of it mattered. That'll give him the Clint Eastwood grizzled bitterness before it's time

I'll eventually do a Jack (from Mass Effect) playthrough because Courtenay Taylor <3
Probably not the first playthrough though... 'Cause she will have to be substantially nuuuuuuuuts to make it work :)
I assume there will be a face and body mod of that character available as well after a while.

I always do a self insert before making other characters but I feel like bringing back some of my mainstays I made throughout the series won't be as fun considering how voiced protag and the 4 option dialogue wheel limits things.

First, and most playthroughs will most likely be Inspired by, and loosely based on the fellow in my avatar (I call him Floyd Barrett). I long ago, gave up all hope of trying to actually get my Fallout characters to even remotely resemble him, so I mostly just go for the mental aspect of it.

One of my favorite New Vegas characters was based on a fictional character from the song Arnold Layne. He was also named that too, unfortunately, he became the victim of a corrupt save. Subsequent attempts at recreating him were unsuccessful. I was able to recreate the face, but the magic that made him special was gone by then.

Maybe I'll try Arnold again in Fallout 4. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and feel that connection again.

Weirdly, my characters always end up looking eerily similar to other characters I've made in past games. There must just be certain facial features I'm attracted to and I just end up making those same features over and over.

One of my dudes(not my first)will be a black heavy weapons specialist called Tripod who chainsmokes cigars(if possible)and is based very loosely on Cooper off Event Horizon, personality wise. I just need to ignore the voice acting.

That's only one of them anyway, I have a high charisma female character in my mind aswell.

Not on my first play through. Second onwards however I occasionally mix it up with characters inspired by some of my original characters I've created previously.
