Will your first playtrough be on hardcoe mode?

Post » Sun Nov 21, 2010 4:48 am

No, not at first. It might be my second playthrough or so, once I'm memorised the locations and more, then I'll consider it.

Funny, most of the posts seem to be saying no, but the poll says different.

at any rate, the more I think about it, the more I think I might just jump in head first. it'll make hardcoe all that more rewarding if I go into it not knowing really anything about the area.

That said, I don't think I'll do much exploring on hardcoe. I might just blast through the main storyline ASAP. hmm.. i'm definitely going to have to give this some thought! lol

Hard difficult and hardcoe Mode enabled on the first run. I am a veteran in STALKER, so I know how to handle myself in the wasteland.
First playthrough on hardcoe is much more awesome then going on second playthrough where you already know where the good things are, it spoils the fun.

Yes, I feel if I try a normal mode first I won't go back and I'm putting points into my survival skill on my first playthrough and want the most out of it.

hardcoe mode feels like it will keep the game going for me for a good while and make me actually think what I should do instead of just wander into a group of enemies and fire.
Also it will help plan my route by following any body of water so I'm near a watersource, I think this will bring much immersion to the game for me.

I ,might play on normal just to goof around with.

I voted no but after reading all these threads im considering hardcoe for my 1st playthrough.... it would kinda defeat the purpose if i played through in normal mode and then played through in hardcoe my 2nd playthrough knowing where everything is and what to do.

I don't see any good reason to play on casual mode, so not only will my first playthru be hardcoe, ALL my playthrus will be hardcoe.
I wish there was some kind of bonus content (maybe a unique quest, or piece of gear) to attract HC players to the casual mode, but alas...

No, here's how mine will go:

1st: Get the most out of the main quest.
2nd: Have fun (Wacky Wastland, Role playing, etc.)
3rd: Challenge yourself (hardcoe, Very Hard, etc.)

I'll try hardcoe mode at my first playthrough.
I like challenges, and the realism the hardcoe mode adds might enhance my feeling of roleplaying... I guess I will find out. :)

I know I've already answered this in a similar thread but I am definitely trying hard core mode first. I think the challenge will make the game allot more interesting and I'd rather have to plan carefully for missions rather than wander aimlessly without any repercussions.

I'm not even sure I'll play it at all. I know my first playthrough won't be on it, I rather enjoy carrying more ammo than a gun store.

I might. It might take a bit of time getting used to, but it's an interesting idea, if I think back on my Fallout 3 playthroughs - there was lots of food and water (irradiated, of course) around, but it always seemed like a bit of a waste since the game hardly ever forced you to rely on it - you could go without food or drink for days, relying on stimpacks for your health... As I said, seems like a bit of a waste. Especially since it's a game about surviving in a world that is irradiated all over. So I believe hardcoe mode is worth a try...

Wow, the comments really motivate me to try hardcoe on the first one too.

Kudos to all who will have a hard time for sure in the wastes (aka the ones who voted yes)!

You don't know what my game is like. :nuke: :bolt:

Well maybe NV would not be easy, but at least not challenging enough.

I more than likely will be, Im just wondering if hardcoe automatically sets it to very hard as well, because god knows im not going to be able to survive an unlucky low level encounter with a death claw, so im wondering if there is Normal hardcoe, and Hard hardcoe (I usually play on hard at the very beginning, normal and hard once im about level 15, then around level 20 i switch to very hard) I dont want to have to play very hard with harcore right away, id rather have Hard hardcoe.

hardcoe mode is a separate mode from normal difficult. So you can play on very easy with hardcoe mode turned. Or Very hard with hardcoe mode off.

Nah,
I think I got that saved for my third playthrough.

^^^@FreakLore: There is no need to worry, hardcoe is a separate option from the difficulty slider.

Heh, my father is 58 and every time he visits me/i visit him, he asks me how work is and if i am still playing those kids games. You sir have my support! It is really awesome to see the fanbase spreading from us in our 20's (and the teens but we don't talk about them ;) )

nope, hardcoe mode is completely separate from difficulty, so you can play anything from Easy hardcoe to Hard hardcoe.
