Will your first playtrough be on hardcoe mode?

Post » Sat Nov 20, 2010 8:36 pm

I know a lot of people on the forums here are no newbies to fallout. I myself am really considering playing on hardcoe mode the first time i'll be playing. How about you, and why?

I've been playing with 'hardcoe-like' mods for Fallout 3 along with all sorts of mods that make the game more difficult. I would probably find New Vegas without hardcoe mode too easy.

No .
I'm the kind of guy that is obsessed with 100%ing the game, and i feel that's annoying enough .
plus, playing hardcoe mode after the regular mode will make the game feel a little fresh .

Ill try it after a normal run, but i doubt ill complete a hardcoe run. not really my stastes, but ill try it just so i can see the kind of work the developers put into it.

Well, before they lock this, this is the first poll like this I've posted in, so...

No. I'll play through it once on non-hardcoe. Get my bearings, then start up a hardcoe character. I look forward to playing on HC, but not my first time. I want to get all the trophies and stuff first.

then a hardcoe run

then another normal run to explore everything.

after that, we'll see. There is so much content in NV that it seems more than one play through is almost necessary. Not only do you have the option to join different factions, but also different paths to choose to go through the story, etc.

I only ever did about 3 or 4 play-throughs in Fallout 3.
Just put massive hours into each one.
I like how some people actually plan future play-throughs . Thats taking things abit too far.

Just like the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1102305-will-you-play-hardcoe-1st-play-through-or-2nd/ this was asked, No.

I didn't bother with FWE or similar mods with FO3, they just don't sound attractive. So the odds are that my 2nd (3rd, 4th, 5th, etc) play won't even be on "hardcoe" mode.

I heard in hardcoe, death means death. If you die, you're forced to start a new game (not able to load a previous save).

No thank you. I've played enough of that with the Super Mario Bros game I got off of eBay.

However, I might start a new character with hardcoe just to see what it's like. It'd be interesting to see what would happen if I forced my character to go days without food/water. Would any physical things change or would they just be stats in the menu?

No confirmation (or anything I've heard) about that at all. So we can assume that's not true. :)

I love a challenge, if i do it the second time around i will have already found out locations and other exploitable tid bits, so i will definitely be playing on hardcoe for the first run through.

Not on my 1st time through no. It'll probably be my 4th playthrough before I'll try hardcoe mode.

You can turn it off, so I'll play the beginning of the game in hardcoe, then if it gets too hard, turn it off.

Maybe once my second trip through. I enjoy the exploration and the journey more than the struggle.

Hard core mode for me, I remember the first timei played fallout 3 . The second you get outa the vault u have that gut feeling of being vulnerable, the feeling of something jumping on you at anytime. Its really fun to again experience that and to explore the unknown :D . Thats when the real survival sets in for me hardcoe more + exploration = :fallout:

Yep. Recently I played through Halo Reach, started on Legendary because hardcoe was too easy. Same thing happened with Dragon Age and playing on Nightmare because everything else was a breeze... Or even something like Guild Wars where the AI gets smarter on HM(AoE scatter, focus on one target).

So I like the hardcoe Mode idea that a lot of mods in Oblivion and Fallout 3 provided in making the game harder by doing more than just giving enemies tons of health, because thats a really boring and not very fun way of making a game harder.
