Hello all, and hi Ed :) if you're out there and not too super-busy...
Great mod! I have been playing for weeks and weeks (as time allows) and suspect I am reaching the end.
I have the Order of the Candle all squared away, and nobody died, so that's a good thing.
Now I am
Spoiler
working for The Saint, and he has sent me to the lovely April Flowers. She wants the Gorvette Diamond book, which I have stumbled across several times over the months, and I immediately checked my inventory - ack! I don't have it.
Searching all the vendors as suggested, I located a copy in the wealthy bookstore, the strange store where the woman is almost always never there.
This book, however, does not seem to impress Ms. Flowers. She doesn't seem to care  leading me to believe it is not the specific copy she seeks...
If this is the case, I will scour the island and find "another" copy - or is this a glitch and I am wasting my time?

If someone who knows tells me to keep looking, then I will do just that, but I would value a hint!
Thanks for any guidance in this matter,
Regards

Yikes!
Nobody playing Windfall but me?
It's an awesome mod - better than most of Giskard's stuff - right up there with the very best.
You guys aren't still modding your dopey little swords or whatever...?
The Mods section should be about MODS. Great, huge, spectacular quest mods adding ~100 hours playtime, like this one.
My character has been carrying the same weapons/armor since 2007 (there's only so much you can do).
Good quest mods are where it's at! :P
Windfall players, where are you?

IIRC, the book you need is in the general store... ground level...

I do, or I did until this summer, and after that I've been busy modding and playteting my mods. I plan to continue on my Windfall quest soon though.

I agree, except for one glaring, big flaw. And that is how the quests are presented. Many quests are presented with a short explanation by the quest giver and nothing more. No quest arrow (which doesn't bother me, as I play with quest arrows turned off in DarnUI anyway), no description in the quest log and no info to be gained by talking with the quest giver again. When I loaded the savegame now, the main quest tells me to find a ring, but absolutely no info about where to go to find it. So I got two choices, load a savegame from before I got the quest (if I have any) and take note when the quest giver tells where to go, or look for the quest location in the CS.

Both are poor, immersion-breaking solutions, and something that is a big detriment for this otherwise excellent mod. :(

As the first is closed, herewith begins the second.

I'm having problems finding--I think her name is Virginia (the quest doesn't list that),
Spoiler
who wants the book about 101 Ways to Kill a Rebel
. Isn't she supposed to be hanging around the Wealthy District? I've tried all the buildings, and she's nowhere in them. Any idea where I can locate her?

Instead of throwing a spoiler in the first post, how about copy pasting the read me, or original post?

...a spoiler in the first post...

Huh? Virginia is no spoiler; she hangs around the Commerce district, usually not too far away from the gate to the slums.
I'm gonna start looking for that book (not too sure what the General Store is) but if it's around, I'll grab it...
This mod is fantastic for 'senior' players who have run out of things to do. :twirl:
I have ~1600 hours on this one player character, and he's great, but the only problem is that everyone likes him all the time, wherever he goes.
Amazons like him, even Brend likes him (and I am playing for the Righteous)!
My guy is a super-good guy - but it's okay; I got it out of my system when I blew up Megaton, I was a real [censored] in that game, LoL :P
Anyway, all Windfall discussion is more than welcome. We've gotta get more people playing this fine mod!

Really stupid question here -

Ive downloaded Windfall, but have no idea how to start the mod. Everything is properly checked in the data files and I am launching Oblivion using OBSE, but when I look for an island south of Anvil (that is where Ive read the mod takes place) I start bumping into the invisible barrier telling me I must go back. Doesnt seem like anyone else has had this issue, so any advice is welcome.

Thank you.

Start the mod by going to the Mechant District in the Imperial City.

Virgina does the shopping for the castle so she will wander the Wealthy and Commerce Districts, but not the Slums. On her day off she likes to hang out at Melvins Jewelry store in the Commerce district. I have seen get locked in there on occasion, so it is a good store to check if it is day time and you can't find her roaming the streets. I think she might stop in some of the other stores periodically, if you can't find her in Melvins. Dinner time, try the castle dining room, the main room, not the smaller one off it where the VIPs eat. I don't remember where she leisures, but it will probably be just outside the castle, or the main hall area.

Hi this is a fantastic mod but it appears I have encountered a bug.

Spoiler
In the quest where you need to retrieve Alexander's sword and the pentagram
I stepped into the portal leading to the ruin and the maze and now my character has a blue glow around him and I cannot seem to get rid of it. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Never mind I fixed my problem by fast traveling to the Imperial City. Anyways this is an awesome mod and I look forward to seeing updates in the future.

Ed_conn said earlier in this thread (8th October)

'I know it appears that Windfall was abandoned. Not entirely true. After the release, I worked on updates for over two months. I am about 1/3 of the way done. But it is a very big project, and even minor updates take considerable time. However, the company I work for was purchased. I am buried in work and I really need to keep my job. I simply haven't had time to finish the updates. I hope to, but unfortunately I can't guarentee it.

Ed'

Don't be put off by the 1.0 tag. This is a great mod as is. There are a couple of very minor things that could do with sorting out, but isn't that true of any game? The 1.0 release really is the complete thing. A marvelous mod.

I know, I've played it for a bit already. I mentioned a few minor bugs before (Alessia Ottus is not a man! :o) but overall it doesn't seem to have any serious bugs so that's great! :)

Sorry to bug you with my dumb questions,
I'm playing for the Righteous here, and like I already said
Spoiler
April Flowers wants the Gorvette Diamond book.
I found a copy in the Wealthy bookstore but she was not interested.
I then found another copy in Reginald's General Goods, and it is clearly indicated that this is The Book, once you pick it up!
But April is still not interested, [censored].
I tried it both scenarios, with and without the key, and she doesn't care... :ahhh:
Man, I've got a lot of keys but I went through 'em to see if I could spot a new one or at least one with a red hand, but nothing.

I even went back to the basemant in the slums to see if he had anything to say, but no.
Sorry to be stupid, Ed - but I'm lost! :banghead:
It occurred to me that this might be a malfunction, possibly because I am carrying two copies of the book...?
Hopefully it's not normal because I'm stuck here, need help.

If it also has a bit of Daggerfall the mod name would totally make sense. :P

I seem to recall that ed_conn said a long time ago that the morrowWIND daggerFALL thing was just a coincidence. 'Windfall' just seemed like a good name at the time.

I may be wrong.

I've no idea how to start it also.. i've talked to every npc in the market district and I see the judas fellow.. but nothing is intiating this quest mod. Any ideas?

Is there something specifically you have to do in the market district in imperial city?

When you go into the Market District, the guy is right on you - he walks towards you and 'captures' the screen, to force your speaking with him.
He stands right in the middle of the district, and is supposed to walk towards you, whichever door you enter through.
If you run around, enter/exit buildings or fast-travel, I s'pose you could possibly escape him... :P

I'm still dead in the water here, Ed.
Has nobody else reached the part where I am, near the end of the story?
Still hoping for some help,

I played through Windfall months ago and don't recall having difficulty at the spot mentioned in your prior posting. Alas, it's been too long. I no longer recall details for particular quests. I will point out, however, that http://windfall.50webs.com/, one devoted to hints and spoilers. The author is far more active there that here. Might be worth a try?

Thanks for reply Decrepit. :)
Ed comes here too, from time to time - you can see, he was here just a few days ago.
Plus, I guess I'm pleased to help keep Windfall near the top of the Mods forums, trying to popularize it...
I had hoped someone would at least tell me "no; that's not right, that's broken!" so then, I would know. :(
I'm gonna restore my Quicksave, then go and sell all kinds of stuff (including that incorrect book, heheh).
Then I'm gonna bugger off for a few days, maybe go down to my island near Leyawiin...
When I come back to Windfall, the cells will have reset and I'll go steal the correct book, and give it another go! :P
If all else fails, maybe Ed will help, or I can try to 'setstage' my way past it.
Spoiler
The thing is, one can either pocket the key or return it to the book - which of course is a nasty thing to try to 'setstage' your way past!

Geez, I have a lot of time tied up in this mod... (It's a slow time in the motorcycle business here in Canada, LoL) so I hope I get to see Windfall through to the ending.
Thanks again,
L8R

First find Jude Thadius. He should be in the Market District. Actually he should run up to you and start talking, but I am assuming he doesn't. Once you verify he is there and you have found him try this:

Open the console by pressing ~
Type AddTopic XX003500 Where XX is the load order prefix of the esp file, not the esm file.
Press Enter
Close the Console by pressing ~

This should give Jude the needed topic so you can start the quest.

You can get the load order prefix from Wyre Bash or other load order software. Another way to get the correct load order prefix is to check it with Jude. With Jude in screen, open the console, and click on Jude. This should put his Object ID on the screen. The first two characters of his object ID will be the same two you want to use for the XX in the commands above.

No this isn't normal. Most problems people have had with this quest is finding the book. You have the book, I assume from the write up you took the key once you opened the book.
Spoiler
(if not you should have)
.

When you talk to April again, did you try some of the topics, even though they aren't highlighted? I don't recall the dialog path and need to look it up again, but I seem to recall that the new info is in a need topic under an old topic. If you haven't tried that, please do. If you have, can you tell me which topics are available when you do talk to her, and the first line of the last journal entry you have from this quest.
