Window Mode has very limited and unchangeable res?

Post » Thu Apr 25, 2013 1:23 am

For some strange reason, my computer wants to have a heart attack when playing Skyrim full screen. I don't really know why. But anyway, that's not the point of my question.

My question is, why are there only a very few amount of resolutions available in window mode? It goes from the size to a gameboy advance screen to 1920x1080. I don't get that, it makes no sense. Why nothing in between? So I can either play Skyrim so big that it cuts half the game off my screen, or use what is essentially a gameboy advance.

It usually displays all the options that your monitor .inf file shows as compatible with your monitor -- so you probably are missing the .inf file for your monitor thus the game thinks those resolutions are the only ones your monitor supports --- go into the display properties in windows and make sure your monitor is setup properly or set it to display unsupported resolutions by unchecking the Hide unsupported resolutions checkbox in the display properties (just be careful after doing this as selecting a resolution that is not supported by your monitor can damage the monitor ! )

When I uncheck windowed mode, all of the resolutions become available. If your theory is correct, that wouldn't happen. So it's just a problem with Window Mode.

Available resolutions in Full Screen mode I can choose from:
1280x720
1360x768
1366x768
1600x900
1920x1080

Available resolutions in Windowed Mode I can choose from:
800x450
1280x720
1440x810
1920x1080

The thing is, my screen is 1920x1080p native resolution. When I put it on window mode and 1920x1080, it gets so big (for some unkown reason) that it cuts the mana/health/stamina bars off the screen and for some reason you can NOT move the window at all. It won't let me grab the border and drag it.

But when I put it on 1440x810, it's so small that I can cover the actual game window with my palm. This is my problem. I need something in between. I want to be able to put it in 1600x900 in window mode, but that option for some reason disappears when I select window mode.

No solution? I find it quite hard to believe that I can't make Skyrim play in 1600x900 in window mode on a 2013 laptop that is 1920x1080 HD resolution. -_____-

What aspect ratio? Changing it changes available resolutions in Skyrim Laucher.
