Windows 7 and directx9.oc

Post » Thu Oct 01, 2009 8:41 am

I'm trying to get my nephew set up with morrowind and am having a problem installing directx9. He has a 64 bit windows 7 Enterprise system. I thought it went in the C\Windows\system32 file but when we try that we get an invalid filepath error. If I add directx to the path it asks if I want to create the file. Could someone point me in the right direction. Where does it go? I use an XP system and have no clue to a Win 7 system. Thanks. :brokencomputer:

You can't just copy the *.dll files into your /system directory. Best to use the http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3 that Microsoft provides for this purpose.

Thanks, we'll give that a try. He is also having trouble getting some mods to open. He managed to get Better Bodies, Better Clothes, Vaardenfell Visages MCP, MPP. and Solstheim Castle all loaded but things like Westlys Corean Hair won't open. And there are a few others as well, including MGE. Don't know if it is a Win 7 problem or a user problem.

Just use the Web Installer: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en

Nevermind. I should post on this forum more often.
