Windows 10 Is Full Blown Electronic Tyranny

Post » Fri Aug 05, 2016 9:47 pm

...I suddenly realized it's Saitek, not TM, so...

On topic, as said previously, data gathered from all the devices must be enormous, so it's not like someone's manually browsing through my keystrokes, browser history etc (if such precise and personal-identifiable data is gathered at all). And it's not only Windows, and not only Internet. Every time you provide your name, phone number, your address, it's stored somewhere. Even your local store may have a large base of addresses with names and other personal data, for the purpose of loyalty programs or sending flyers.

If such gathering of data even remotely and occasionally helps to stop bad people from doing bad things, then I guess there's some good use for that.

I should point out that proxies offer about as much protection as pulling out.

That may be the current use, but bleach is used for cleaning and sanitising, and it only take minutes to turn it into a nasty chemical weapon.

My point is that it has enormous potential for misuse, and we really should address that before it happens.

I usually get upgraded by force when I need to buy a new computer, but since my roommate gave me his old gaming desktop, which is wonderful, I can actually just upgrade the parts instead of having to buy another laptop. So I'm sticking to Windows 7! Unless Microsoft sends those Ninja Clowns to force everyone to upgrade. :toughninja:

There will eventually come a time when W7 support ends and it becomes dangerous to use (since security holes and such will go unpatched).

I installed Win 10 last week with every intention of reverting back to 7 after activation but it really has turned out to be an upgrade. Game performance sometimes startlingly improved and it seems to handle some cpu intensive programs better. True, it isn't as nice to look at and I'm not thrilled with automatic updates and the spying but if I want to do anything nefarious there's always the pc with linux.

alot of you guys are overreacting..

if you don't want people gather info on you, you better drop your modem in a river and never go on the internet again..

everything you type in a search engine goes to an external source, most e-mail providers keep a list of what other providers your most common contacts use, and sites like facebook (if you use it) has more info about you than either your employer or the government.. heck, even your ISP gathers data on you..

and even then, its not some guy in a dark room twirling his mustache reading all about what you do.. its mostly an automated system thats used for such things as targeting web ads fit your browsing and user habits better, thats why if you reinstalled your operating system right now with win10 and started searching for video cards you will find more ads for video cards and other hardware will appear than anything else, because as far as they would know thats what info they would know about your user habits (with how many users windows has, do you really think they have a group of people reading everything everyone ever does? no)

The difference is you will have to pay for it then, now you can get what you will eventually have to have anyway for free.

How much longer is it free? Debating giving it a test run on my laptop which I use for streaming on the living room TV and general use such as paying the bills. If I like it I'd update the gaming desktop as well.

You can just update it, then roll back to Windows 7 if you don't like it. Then you own it (it's registered to that computer) and you can do a clean install with a free version when forced to.

It's easy to roll back for the first 30 days. (Puts a Windows.old folder on your C: drive.) After that it takes a clean W7 install to go back.

Oh man be careful when you say that you like something in an Internet forum. The local pack of wolves can be vicious!

Same. I've been waiting for this "free upgrade period" to end, so I can turn automatic updates on again.

Must have 100+ updates that I haven't been bothered to install since the offer started. Fortunately, I don't use my laptop much.

W10 is just fine on my gaming rig, but it'll be cold day in hell before I get rid of my old Core2 Mint rig for banking and the like.

And remember kids, DO NOT get anything from the App Store. EVER. Had a friend who got an unzipper from there. Thank you Malwarebytes.

The only way to hide is to go off the grid, move to the woods, and downgrade to an abacus.
