@MasterSamson88 Pretty much the same as always. Insides are insides. Outsides are outsides.

Can you read? I wrote the answer. I'm not going to go fetch the link because you are too lazy to ctrl+f on Pete Hines' Twitter...

Bwahahaha. A single modder can outdo a hundred strong person development team. Reneer if you read this you friggen rule man. If the Bethesda folks are reading this, that's just embarrassing. Hierarchical Z culling and separate spherical harmonic ambient terms. I've seen five million dollar movie tie in game more advanced, I mean wtf?

Reneer's windows mod, not quite done yet but now Oblivion is officially more advanced than Skyrim. You can't actually see out the windows!

Not at all, sometimes an interior space needs to be larger than an exterior building.

I am pretty sure this didn't have anything to do with cells. I am pretty sure it had to do with seeing out windows which can be accomplished with portals.

What we have confirmed is that there interiors and exteriors are seperate cells, and I'm fairly certain that's no different in Reneer's mod.

I would like to explain something: I have no doubt it's possible to do windows with external and internal cells, however Pete Hines did not say "yes" to his question and even said that it's the same as always. That's really why I'm upset. It's totally possible, at least I think it is from what I've seen with the old engine, but they didn't and I don't know why they didn't.

Judging from Todd Howard's interviews....the game is going to get a lot of inspriation from RDR---which was able to make one massive seamless open world without cells--as large as Oblivion if not bigger. In Red Dead you could enter almost every building and it was fairly detailed inside. I think that it can be done with technology today.

That said, I wouldnt be disapointed if they go the classic route. I do hope Skyrim makes advances for Bethesda games in general though in terms of the engine capabilities--this game is supposed to be raising the bar after all.

Raising the bar - for Bethesda games indeed. Gothic 1 had seamless transitions in 2001. With a decent AI and animations for NPCs.

No one expected the world to be in one cell. People were hoping for window portals between cells.

When you think about it it isn't that big a deal. Not as though you would enter a building just o look out of the window at people passing by :P

It would have been awesome, but, eh, I can definitely live without it.

This.

I could be a way to improve the realism further but not having it is not something that is going to effect how I enjoy the game. I probably won't even notice it.

I didn't expect to clearly see out of windows, mostly because I was expecting early style windows or stained glass windows that you couldn't really see out of.

What I was expecting though was something like a http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18305, or collection of mods, I had that used the outside light and weather to determine interior environments. As far as the windows went; if it was light outside you might get a white, grey, blue, or, orange tint from the window depending on the weather and time of day; if it was dark, you usually got a black window. I am sure they improved the mod since I downloaded it a long time ago. I can't get wrye bash to work on Windows 7 x64, so I can't use it any more.
I hope they at least do something like that mod.

Yeah, window lights when indoors were distracting and immersion-breaking for me, too. Even if the windows aren't clear enough to see through and don't really show what's going on in the other side, the lighting should change depending on the time of day. That should be easy to implement.

We don't know yet. Maybe there will at least be some open rooms. What they need to bring on is lighted windows from FNV.

Yeah, I'll be happy if they at least have illuminated windows like in FNV :)

they did something pretty similar to this in Fallout 3, though it didn't adjust for weather. then again there wasn't really any weather to adjust for, so.

i do hope there's weather sounds inside this time around, though. i never liked going indoors during a huge thunderstorm and not being able to hear it at all.

I think the main reason behind seperate interior/exterior cells is simply to do with detail. Comparing an interior from Red Dead to Skyrim probably isn't fair. Even in Oblivion interiors are pretty detailed and you can interact with every cup, fork, knife, spoon etc.

With mods, Oblivion's interior environments can look pretty outstanding.

From my experience its easyer to not have windows that look out because it allows you to have small indoor cells rather than everything in much larger outdoor cells. This results in better performance / responce from the game.

Although It would be nice if the windows did offer you a view out even if its just a image that changed depending on time of day/night. I am certainly not expecting that they will give us windows that allow you to watch the street to see so and so NPC walk by.

Remember morrowind, where you could select a door and in about a second flat, you'd find yourself inside the cell? That's all I want.. If it's loading that fast, then I'll be ecstatic.

Not too surprised about this either. Sound would have been a [censored] to accurately make in an engine made for so much freedom of movement.

I do hope they make the NPC's travel through doors more artful though, not just vanishing at the doorstep. htey could open and walk through. if you're inside, light from outside would blind what's on the other side during the day, and if you're out and going in, the inside would be really dark. swap this for night time, match lighting for the windows, IMO that would be more than sufficient.
