Wings of the dragon, unique oppurtunity at the mountain.

Disregard fast travel and levitation. This is on side of those discussions :P

How about if at some part of the game you get to use dragonwings? Maybe once you've done the 7000 you'll be able to fast travel there or use travel services to get there. And at the top you could obtain dragon wings. Both hands will be preoccupied, so no fighting or spell casting. Or if you do you'll glide like a brick. Whatever. Farcry1 had these hang gliders around that was fun to use. Equip them and you can enjoy limited flight pretty much everywhere you want to go. Maybe part of a late quest to grant them? You can only glide with them though and will always loose altitude.

Benefits:
* The ability to see Skyrim from a birds perspective.
* Get far in relatively short time.
* The awesomeness of flight. Err, glide.
* "Stronger" than levitation (if implemented, but levitation would have other benefits).

Cost:
* Acquired late.
* Getting there. Maybe a quest to build an elevator or teleport system, for us fast travel haters :D
* Unique location (rather than on every mountain peak), although you may find a set and get a glimpse of things to come.
* Glide only, no indoor use :P

Maybe late dragon shouts will give us true flying, but I think this could be a nice start.

I was under the impression you climb the 7000 steps relatively early in the game.

You do. What he is saying is you end up going back to High Hrothgar later on as quest 99/100 (for eg) and then you learn to aquire this new technique.

it sounds cool ... but im not sure..... I liek to keep things realistic to Tamrielic lore and the world of Urn. perhaps a mod, not a straight out feature.

if there is such a mod I will get it.

I can just see it now..........
The hero peacefully gliding across the mountain ranges being held aloft by the thermal air from Mountain hot springs. (A dragon sees this and gets really pissed off and thinks you are using the wings from his newly deceased friend "Chuck the NOT-so magic dragon") As you try your hardest to stay aloft while trying to escape from the fire spewing pissed off vengeful hell monster that is the dragon. All of a sudden you see at least five more shadows gliding behind you and you realize your fire breathing friend has called his posse of dragons to jump you. As you try to keep the now burning glider from plummeting into the tundra below you look back on all of your life's accomplishments and come to the Revelation that a glider shaped like dragon wings probably wasn't the best idea. And that is your final thought as the glider goes into a tailspin of awesome looking fire mingled with regret. The END :read:

I was thinking about this earlier and I think it would be cool. Not necessarily flying but gliding, yeah...that would be sick.

Especially if u jump off a mountain and half way down u catch up to a dragon in mid air and have to fight him, haha :)

:lmao: great story. And pretty much how I see it. Though honestly if Dwemer airships can exist in the lore I don't see why a glider would be out of the question.

More silly dragon stuff? No thank you, even if it's included in the game I probably won't use it, it's silly and makes no sense.

There are no broken spells, only broken mages.

I'm sorry OP, but the above post just killed my ability to take this seriously at all. Ah man...

I would like to see some kind of winged/gliding flight in the game, though, just for the sense of freedom that gives in an open (and beautiful) gameworld.

How about a dwemer hanglider? Seems a lot less cliche than a pair of dragon wings

In order for leviation to be in the game in a not too overpowered way (like it was in Morrowind, as many seems to think), there has been suggestions on making it constantly draw magicka or make it limited wrt altitude or slopes. Constant magicka with no magicka regen? Works for me actually, makes you think twice about using it. Levitation would also allow to to get *up* instead of only down, and also work indoors.

But yeah, it was only meant as a gimmick to allow that kind of perspective every now and then, not at a major travel service :P Like the Morrowind monster jump - one time use then gone. It was *fun*.

I thought of that too, but for weight I think it would glide like a space shuttle. I'd rather have dwemer machinery like a gondol or something.
