It sounds to me like your files are corrupted, try re-downloading them?

Perhaps, but surely not every file I downloaded is corrupted... What are the chances?

it could be if you download them all from the same source, but its true that they are small. It could also be that your winrar distro is bad, they had problems with earlier versions and vista. Are you using vista, if you are you may need to disable UAC. Also neither of those are winrar errors, which is why I am assuming its your OS or your files
