Winter clothing.

Fuzzy warm furry winter coats would be too cool, I really hope they add them, and that they can be worn on top of armor!

We think alike. :D

I voted yes, with my reasoning being the "Why not?" approach. If you are in a snowy environment then it is even better. I would like to see fur clothing, like the stuff in Bloodmoon.

Ha, 4 votes for no.

I know it will be in, especially if there is a hardcoe mode. If there is a dehydration meter it should deplete faster than I'm Vegas, cause I'm Vegas atleast you sweat. In Skyrim your blood can freeze, so that's why it should deplete quicker, only way to not freeze is to keep moving and sipping water.

Of course there is going to be winter clothing in the game. That I am certain of.

I'd say you're right. There's really no reason why Bethesda wouldn't design clothing that would look appropriate for a cold environment, seeing as the game IS set in Skyrim. Yes, Oblivion lacked such things, but that's because the majority of Cyrodiil never had any snow, and I suppose that Bethesda didn't want to specifically design clothes that would probably only be used in Bruma and the surrounding area. As to Morrowind, the game never had any really cold environments prior to the expansions. But the new clothes added by Bloodmoon looked a lot warmer than what the game had by default to me.

Most likely, when designing the clothing in any given game, Bethesda takes into account the feel they want to go for with the game, and since Skyrim will certainly have a lot of cold, snowy places, NOT having warm clothing would seem pretty stupid.

Crafting clothing from animal hides would be excellent.

I want me some mukluks like the ones I wear daily in winter for my character. Oh wait...no mukluks in Skyrim I bet.

I definitely want a fur coat that'll go on over my armour, like a robe in Morrowind but possibly with an open front. A clothing system like in Morrowind would be good, but from looking back at the sheer amount of enchantments you could get by doing that I could see how that'd be a bit of a gamebreaker, even if it did add realism. Although it would be a little stupid not to be coated in fur clothing under your armour.

Being into costuming, i think having clothing and armor relevant to the atmosphere of the game is critical. It may not bother people so much, wearing a skimpy battle tunic in snowy mountains, but it sticks out like a sore thumb to me. And it can effect others on a subconcious level i think, really subtracting from the overall immersiveness. The clothing really is the median between the character and the environment here.

I'd definitely like to see winter clothing and armor that's suited for extreme cold environments. Armor padded with furs, big fur boots and cloaks and the like. But also warm looking regular clothes made from leather and fur. :)

As to hypothermia, an easy way (I guess) is to make use of the Resist Frost mechanic. Certain items in the game could have this effect automatically (still leaving room for a regular enchant maybe). So the higher your Resist Frost, the less damage you'd take whilst your out in the wilds. Campfires and the like could also have a certain 'Resist Frost 100% CE in a 20 ft radius perhaps'

Just throwing stuff out there, but I'd definitely want to see localized winter clothes and armor ;)

Whenever I headed up to Bruma in Oblivion I would put my fur armor on. Otherwise I had this OCD thing where I couldnt stop thinking about my character freezing. I love role playing too so theres that.

But the fur armor looked stupid on chicks, which svcked because my main character was a female Dunmer.

I'd like winter clothing and penalties. However, I don't think Bethesda will include the penalties, it seems like it would just ruin the game for people. Maybe if they include a hardcoe mode you have to be wearing warm clothing.
Edit: Remember Frostfire Glade in the Tears of the Savior? You got frost damage if you didn't have those potions on or som'n, maybe they could do something like that.

Of course there will be winter clothing. But I really hope that they add in the ability to hunt and craft armor and clothing from the animals you kill. It would really fit in with the setting.

There's going to be winter clothing, except since it's Skyrim, there they just call it "clothing". :P

I don't think the frost penalties will be added, unless there's and extreme hardcoe mode. Though that would be very cool.

I want to be able to skin my enemies and wear their hides as a coat. That'd be awesome!

As for clothing under armor, I think beth will re-style the equipment so it appears to have warm clothing under it or as a part of it, rather than increasing the number of equipment slots.

It would be kind of silly if they didn't have it. I expect lots of warm clothing! XD

OF COURSE! :D
They should also include penalties on not wearing it if you are in cold places, or things you get if you are with them in cold places etc.

Also improvising stuff would be good (nothing like skinning a wolf for a nice cape, or sleeping inside it's belly to keep warm :P

hummm what do you guys think of this?

I had an idea i think that would be pretty cool is if we could use animal skins and hides to make our own diffrent armors, like how we could with maddness ores in Shivering Isles but with more variety in the armors you can make. Mabe one of the early quests would be to go out and kill some wolves or other creatures to make your first armor?

Of course, we need winter clothing. Fur, big boots, cloaks/capes.... bring it all, but the male characters also need "BEARDS" this time around.

These.

If it was there, I'd have a beard. Maybe go for the http://www.thequarter.org/SouthernWastes/images/BB-Visit2.jpg look...

Like the bloodmoon quest to get the wolf and bear armor?

Personally, I'd prefer a crafting system instead. Being able to skin some animals and make a coat out of it would be cool. Being able to skin some elves and make a coat out of them would be even better.

Winter! Yay!

Of course there will be some warm clothes to make us all happy. Plenty of animal skins, and furs to keep us warm.
Hunting and crafting your own clothes/armour would be super-duper awesome, and I hope to see some nice fluffy cloaks and maybe even scarves.

Yeah i was thinking about that but i didnt think itd be too good cause we'd need a new skill, but now that i think about it this is a new game so why not a crafting spell?
but then alchemy would be kind of a small skill in comparison
what do you think?
