Skyrim is a land caught in the midst of a bloody civil war--on one side, those who support the Empire; on the other, those who campaign for independence and the rule of Ulfric Stormcloak... And yet they all use the same currency, endorsed by the Empire.
What A Currency, Divided does is implement different Currencies for the different allegiances found in Skyrim--Imperial Septims for the Empire; Nordic Gold Pieces for those faithful to Ulfric; and Solstheim Gold Pieces for the island of Solstheim. As you move between each area, your currency is automatically converted depending on which area you are in.
For example, if you are in Solitude and have 1,000 Gold pieces; you will have 1,000 Gold to spend. If you then take a trip to Windhelm, the 1,000 Gold you have is automatically converted into a misc-item called 'Imperial Septims' equivalent to the amount of Gold you had (So in this case, you would have 1,000 Imperial Septims as a misc-item in your inventory). At the same time, any 'Nordic Gold Pieces' you have are automatically converted from a misc-item into actual usable gold.
So, basically, the currently active currency is displayed as your Carried Gold, and the non-active currency is displayed as misc-items which can be dropped or kept as you see fit.
This applies also to Solstheim, where any coins from Skyrim will be updated into their relevant currency, and stored as misc-items. (Admittedly this might not be entirely lore-accurate, since I *think* Solstheim is under Imperial rule? But, it keeps with the general intent of the Mod, anyway )
What does this mean for your adventures? Well, that money is not quite as 'available' as usual: the ten-million gold you have in the Imperial Holds is worthless to you in the Stormcloak Holds. And vice-versa.
Any gold you pick up in a Hold is automatically converted to that Hold's currency.
Current Tasks:
- Make Stormcloaks and Imperials in non-owned Holds carry their appropriate currency, rather than generic 'Gold'
