(WIP) Northern Solstheim

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 6:12 pm

Just sharing what I've been working on, a big landmass mod about the size of Solstheim itself and expanding the nordic region by 100%. Northern Solstheim consists of five new regions.

Lady E's mammoths have had a retexture here to look more like Skyrim mammoths. At the momment I'm just finishing up the interiors of the new landmass and eventually I want to add a big main quest for the new landmass and I'd be grateful for help in the way of BETA testors, scripting specialists etc. If anyone feels up to helping it'd be greatly appricated. Contact me on the email below.

Here's hoping you like the look of my mod so far. Please leave constructive comments

Hello Okida, nice to see you again in modding. I remember you when we was working on UL project.
I like your idea, but i think those mamonts looking too bad. Maybe you could try to ask Antares or Dirnae for new mamonts, they really know how to create creatures.

Best I could get with the Morrowind code patch. I added in the rest of the landmass in brush

It looks like the MCP will need a new tweak. :)

@Elterin The MCP has needed a tweak for Cyrodill for years, You can't even see the Imperial City with the new lanemass, let alone Stirk, which will be the first release.

@Okida, what is the background on Northern Solstheim, is it just an extension of Solstheim or is there anything more? What should we expect in the mod?

- a large expanding landmass larger then Solstheim to the north, compatiable with Sea of Solstheim and Lokken island. There is an issue with Korana's SOlstheim castle but I plan on releasing a patch.

-Two villages with a travel system between them

-5 regions with moose, mammoth's and other creatures inhabiting them

-An underground Nordic fortress

-A grand quest to help protect this new landmass against an ancient evil (eventually, but I require some aid for scripts and other bits and peices)

Looks good, but some vertex shading and some more clutter would really make it good.

Forgive my ignorance but what's vertex shading?

When you turn on the Landscape Edit Settings checking the Edit Colors box turns the "vertex shading editing" to call it like that, on. By "painting" the landscape with various shades of gray you create the effect of the false shadows. It's up to you if you wanna paint shadows or not, since it will look silly for many MGE XE users. For those those who don't use it it will look bland, so it's a tough call I guess. But whichever route you go for it would be nice to outline some big objects.

EDIT; also, I just checked your pics. As Trainwiz said, more clutter is needed there. I wouldn't go with "some more" tho, it looks really empty, so it needs a lot more work, however I will take into account that this is only a WIP, not a finished product, so I hope to see more of this stuff. :)

Oh yes I've been doing that. I also am at the stage now where I need beta testors for the landmass

I am liking this idea! Anything that adds to the Nords and Solsthiem is a plus in my books :D Always liked Solsthiem and the Nords (Hence I am playing Skyrim too much!)

The entrance with a wooden palisade is unique imo and it's almost like those strongholds you'll see in Skyrim, so keep up the good work and I'll looking forward to see more pictures about your mod. :)
