{WIP} Path of the Gunslinger - Indefinate Hold

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:46 am

Dear community and friends.

Due to serious real life issues on the part of the other team members, as well as my own ongoing health problems, development on Path of the Gunslinger has come to a complete stop, about 4 months ago.

I tried appealing to the community for people to join the team and help us make the final push using the elements I, and the original team, already had in place, but nobody seems interested, which is odd considering how well the mod has been received.

Because of this, I am going to try and fix a few small problems, do a walkthrough of what IS done, then release what I have as-is until such time as work can start over.

It is possible the mod may not resurface in FO3 but rather get ported to New Vegas, depending on what assets NV offers us as far as an immersive world...we must wait and see.

*I AM HEREBY RELEASING ALL -TEAM MADE- CONTENT FOR PUBLIC USE*. If an asset is listed as created by a team member, you may use it...as long as you give credit! If the asset in question was used in our mod but not created by our team, you MUST follow the credits in our readme(s) and hunt down the original creator and get THEIR permission...just as we had to.

*THIS PERMISSION DOES NOT EXTEND TO THE ENTIRE MOD IN AND OF ITSELF, WHICH SHALL REMAIN MY AND MY TEAMS PROPERTY. IF YOU WISH TO 'TAKE UP THE GAUNTLET', I AM WILLING TO ALLOW IT, BUT THERE MUST BE DISCUSSION -FIRST-*

Thank you for your long months of support for the team.

Elanthil,

Sorry to hear that things have not gone as well as you'd hoped for this project - and sorry that in the end I wasn't able to provide as much help on the mod as I'd once hoped to. Either way, take care of yourself - health issues trump modding, no matter how much we might wish otherwise at times.

...and no matter what, kudos for what you have accomplished over time with this mod. Even though my current play environment has wandered off in different directions, I will always have very fond memories of PotG -- and I have you to thank for that.

Dear community friends.

During the past year, I moved out of state to have some healthcare issues taken care of by specialists, look for a new career, and pursue a romance.

During this time both my parents died...my mother in february, my father in November. Additionally, my own health has been very precarious...I may be facing the loss of my ability to walk, although a surgical procedure holds out good hope, as does intense physical therapy.

My romance bottomed out (no big loss...mumble), but during the move from Ohio to Arizona, my computer was destroyed, leaving me without the files for the mod and wih no way to work on the mod.

I am writing this from a friends computer, in fact...

I am moving back to Ohio to prepare for the surgery, help my family with my parents wills and sorting through their possessions, and to reconnect with my son and my friends.

I project my access to a computer will be spotty for a couple of months until I save up for a machine capable of running FO3 and New Vegas, but after I get such a machine again I will try to get hold of the old team members, recover the newest files, fix some errors, remove a model that was included that turned out to NOT belong to the jerk that told me I could use it (the real author contacted me and I promised to take care of the situation), and finish what development I can.

I will be looking at New Vegas to see if it can support a port of the mod, or whether it should stay within Fallout 3.

For the time being I have REMOVED the mod file from the nexus because of the model that is in that version which shouldnt be, and because I have concerns over the overall quality of my programming in that version.

Thank you all again for the love and support for myself, the team, and the mod, and I hope to see you all again soon with new developments.

Your thoughts and prayers would be deeply appreciated during what is, admittedly, one of the lowest points in my life.

Sincerely, Elanthil01

hang in there! Happy Thanksgiving. You've clearly suffered a string of losses which each on their own can sometimes cripple a person. Let your circuit breaker blow out until you're ready to resume a routine and probably above all, the best advice I've gotten is...don't disrespect guilt or sorrow, but don't let them negate your life. You are still an irreplaceable part of the world
