Wip - Playable Ninja-bunny-race

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2010 10:03 am

Oooh, extremely pretty! The textured head looks epic! Finally a beast race that is not retextured argonian, yay! :D
Could you pwetty please - if you have free time of course and after you finish the rabbit! - make him a ferret friend/enemy?! :D Ninja ferrets fighting ninja rabbits... mmmm.... A Hidden Village of ninja animals yay xD Sorry for my random suggestion, but I hoped for a ferret/stoat race since morrowind first came out and still hope for one to be out someday.... But I also hoped for bunny race too so its ok if you are not interested in ferrets. :) Sorry again!..

Should I be worried or excited about this mod?

It looks utterly fantastic, by the way :)

@Naty: Thx, I may make some further races when I'm done with the bunnies, why not a ferret too!!! Some month ago there was a guy, who wanted to make a "Redwall" mod, was it you?! :) I had agreed to hep on this project, but then never heard about again???

@princess_stomper: Well, I have to admit that I was tempted to make your avatar a race!!! ;) In fact there'll be a white version of the bunny. If it was ok with you, I could add some unique items to one of the heads, like a golden crown and so. You'd just have to grant me permission to do it :)

Here comes the first video of beta-testing the new race:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwyrHBbndNk

I have still to work on the textures and find a way to attach the tail to the tail bone. At the moment it's part of the groin mesh and disapears, when you put on clothing and armor that uses the groin slot. Better bodies seem to be a bit tricky, cause when I parent the tail to the armature, it just doesn't show up ingame, although all vertexes are weighted to the tailbone and naming is same as original Khajiit tail.

What I'd also like to do is an item you can equip, which plays different bunny sounds during the single idles, like a special bouncing sound, when bunny is jumping and so on...

Well, "Redwall" mod was tried to be made like every 6 month-year since morrowind first appeared - every time by different fans and every time projects died because of the lack of modders willing to make heads for beast races. I know that for sure, I kept a close look at all those projects... xP I was one of the modders trying to create Redwal mod and also faced the problem of all modders capable of creating a head saying "just use retextured argonian head for all races" xP But, since no Redwall mod made yet, all other modders trying to create it probably faced the fact that retextured argonian head does not look like a ferret/mouse/badger... Unfortunately, Redwall has so many races and its so unpopular among non-fans that the exact mod most likely never to be done. But it would certanly be amazing to just have some more pretty, unique and original beast races. :) Sorry for the loooong answer xDDDD

Also I just watched the video and soooooo totally love how the bunny looks in-game!! 0_0 Gorgeous!

Did some work on the textures for the bunny's head today and made 2 different versions. First is the clean grey one and second a grey and white mix. Next I'll make a more evil version with some scars and stuff, for those who'd like to play a thief/ rogie - bunny, LOL!!! :) As soon as I have completed the grey bunnies ( body texture has still to be done), I will work on a white version.

Well, I guess for the ladies I will have to make a female version too!!! ;) But therefore I'll model a complete new mesh, with some more attractive appearance than this guy here!!! :P

Awesome, I'm very amused. For some reason I always have to think of Alice in Wonderland when I see that bunny :P Nice work :D

Yeah, now as you say it, looks very similar to the bunny from the movie. Actually I took a real hare as reference for this one and then gave it some human mimic. ;)

Here's a pair of new hats I just made in Blender. I'll make further ones this weekend...

Hood 01:

PS: I know, the cut-out of the feather isn't very clean, I'll fix that lateron!!! :

Looks very cool, keep it up. I guess it?s just the right thing for you to just concentrate on your individual ideas and not commit yourself to a long term project completely, because then we would miss such crazy ( but great ) mod ideas ;). I wish I could model like you, but you just have the needed talent for it (which I don?t have).

Don't give up so easy, just practice frequently and you'll become better with each model you make. When I started with Blender, hardly anyone was using it for modding issues and I had to figure out nearly everything by trial and error. Now with a good hand full of skilled Blender and Max 3D modelers in this forum, you can get almost any help you need. Just give it a try. Talent is a bonus, but you don't need it to do quality models!!! ;)

Thx man, glad you like it, now check this out, I made the first female version!!! :) Overworked the whole proportions and added animated eyelashes to the eyes. I made the eyelashes with shapekeys only, this was a real pain in the ass and I'll never ever do it this way again, I'm tellin' ya!!! :banghead:

Well. now it's done!!! :celebration: I may customize the texture for the head lateron too, depends on how much time I got left after doing all the other stuff on my to-do-list!!! ;)

http://img24.imageshack.us/i/bunnyfemale01.jpg/
http://img696.imageshack.us/i/bunnyfemale02.jpg/

Now I have to alter the body textures for the female version and make some nice acessoirs for the ladies and then I'll begin with the white version.

PS:Did anybody see Princess_Stomper around here recently??? :whistling:

@piinyouri : Thx, you just reminded me that I wanted to watch "Donny Darko" this night!!! ;)

@Mireneye: I will try something else with the bunnies I had planned to do some time ago: Equipeable, scripted tears. I'll make an animated tear drop as hairmesh and it has to carry a script that triggers, when sad things happen, maybe when player catches a severe disease or similar. I want the player to be more realistic, same could be done with heads.

You make different heads and animate them with shapekeys that show various emotions, like anger, fear, happyness and a script does force equip those heads at certain occasions. What you think of this? :)

Here comes first hairstyle for female bunny, not sure if I should make male hairstyles though!!!

snip

Sounds Awesome! If you succeed then I will gladly learn and try to adapt this to my WIP as well haha =) Also hopefully casual MW could need that as well. I have worked with the Better heads meshes, they are OK for deformation not great, but ok.

As for male hair, it's gotta be dreads dude!

Thx, I plan to have the backpipes playing some song too, gotta find copyrightfree backpipe music. You don't accidently play that instrument, do ya?! :) The kilt will be overworked and all the fancy details that can be found on the original outfit will be added, but at the moment I have difficulties with better bodies. My meshes just don't show up ingame, although they're properly named, weighted and parented to the armature. Hopefully I can figure it out!!!

Some new stuff for our ladies here: ;)

EDIT; Bad news concerning eyelashes and mustage hairs. They don't get rendered ingame correctly and do always flicker, so I will have to remove them!!! :(

I confess this is something I'd never use, but it looks absolutely beautiful. I'd love to see what you could do with something serious. ;) Hmm, if you made a new cat race (not necessarily Khajiit), I would love you forever. :hehe: I think http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Leopard_in_the_Colchester_Zoo.jpg agrees with me. ;)

wow what a difference when comparing the unskinned bunny head to the unskinned khajiit head! Makes me want to see a newly modeled khajiit head.
