(WIP/RELZ) Vibrant Distant LOD & Vibrant Textures Enhancemen

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:13 am

I will be loading up vibrant distant LOD with enhanced weather tonight...did you plan on releasing vibrant textures for raevwd?

Secondly regarding the 2 grass mods - should I install both or just 1...Ill re-read the installation instructions tonight but just a little confused on this particular install issue given my rig (I have 1 nvidia 285 gpu and a 8400 core2 overclocked):

Suggested for New Grass Types Install Diverse Grasses Main now or later if you want dg grasses instead of mine see below - do not overwrite any from UOP, Bomret Detailed Normal Maps, if asked

Install for Grass Performance Increase Rpg Black Dragon LowTriPolyGrasses - Level 0 - SL - to maintain imaqe quaility on with variable length for both short and long grasses types..which DG uses..

Vibrant RAEVWD is still in the making, I still have to fiddle around with mip map settings and normal maps so that things are not so sharp looking..

Diverse Grasses contain grass landscape textures so

if you want to use dg landscape textures install after mine, otherwise if you want vibrant grasses install after dg and overwrite all if asked..

Diverse Grasses will add about 6 New grass type meshes and textures and those will not be affected by vibrant or by rpg lowtripoly either but worth it..

RPG LowTriPolyGrasses are just optimized grasses meshes highly recommended you should notice a fps improvement with this loaded..

I just re-read your readme and I missed this section. What through me for a loop was that you said "over-right with my textures" and I was looking for the omod labled vibrant grasses - I now see "your grasses" in the vibrant textures general omod. So we have 3 grass texture options instead of what I thought was only the 2 above. I understand it better now...thanks.

Vibrant Textures / VibrantTexturesSI
This is a landscape texture replacer that is meant to go along with VibrantDistantlod
But can be used standalone for a vanilla texture replacer for these textures,
landscape, plants, rocks (underwater, westweald) , trees (billboards, Branches, leaves), "grasses"
Note: No Town Textures, Dungeons, Building textures are modified. Only natural objects. Or Oblivion textures modified use Architecture files posted below

I will add a readme rewrite for things to do if that helps..Always take me a few tries on readme to get it just right so that everyone understand things..

and once I get big virbrant omod done it will have many more options to what you can select for including grasses, trees, billboards, etc..Like how the Architecture omod is ..

Corepc - your vibrant mods should be a "must have" for everyone. I cant tell you how much better Oblvion looks...prior to installing RAEWVD (I average 40 fps with RAEWVD installed - still very acceptable), I was getting a constant vsync 60fps with all your mods installed - anyone with a low end computer should at least install all your mods as I saw no performance hit but a very significant (and vibrant) increase in how things now look. RAEWVD makes it even look better as well...

I also converted all of your omods to 7z to use as a BAIN install instead.

First question - I loaded bluesteels landscapelod normal mipmap fix mod (its in dev_akms suggested texture overall options) prior to loading your normal mipmap mod and it did overwrite about half of the landscapelod mipmaps textures. I was wondering if you know that mod and how it would interact with yours....other than that one I did not not have any other overwrites except those outlined by you in your install readme. (I have to say I still dont fully understand how landscapelods really work but I can certainly see the difference ingame).

Second question - I did load blade's 2048 borderregiion lod mod and may have only overwritten a few textures as well but I didnt see in your readme anything about boarder region vibrant fixes.

Third question - I see that you have been working plenty on other moddding, but are you planning any updates or fixes like you stated about vibrant raewvd?

Great modding and mods - thanks! My next install is all of the UL mods - will see if fps drop further....

I'll try to answer as best as I can to save CorePC some work.

First question

There will be no problem using the normal mipmap fix with VT as long as you let VT take priority.

Second question

Same as before; make sure VT takes priority. If you do this, Cyrodiil will have vibrant LOD landscapes but the outer reaches of the Tamriel (the places past the border) will have the improved LOD textures from the other mod, because those aren't covered by VT.

Thanks glad it working well for you..I do agree low end users should at least use bomret and mine for improved quality without a hit to fps at all..

1 : You should not need Bluesteels with Vibrant Lod since mine already contain the same types of tweaks that bluesteel does, add mip map to lod itself so that there is no stuttering..

? 2: I did not do border regions so any lod mod that does that will work with VT LOD..

? 3: There are still some things that I need to make vibrant..so that it fully complete in a sense..That would be some plants, fruits, and a few more odd and ends. No creatures, clothes, weapons or armor will be vibranized..Plus there are few landscape textures that I would really like to redo, to make them better, but that will be for Version 2.0 when that happens..along with imporved normal has well for those..Plus Version 2.0 of VibrantLOD which will be even better looking in quality and detail has well..

Vibrant RAEVWD is still being worked on. Once I get the mip map settings just right and image quality just right then that will be released next, then the misc stuff that I have not vibranized yet..Then the big Vibrant OMOD will be after that..Those are my plans for Vibrant Textures at this moment..

I have a question, not about Vibrant Textures per se, but rather about optional grasses: in the instructions, you recommended using Diverse Grasses for variety and RPG-BlackDragon's Low Poly Grasses to save on FPS...my question is can you use these two together (it seems you can from the instructions, but I want to be sure)? And if so, do I have to use Level 0 SL of LPG, or can I use Level 1 SL (or maybe even Level 2 SL) to get better performance without screwing up DG and your grasses? Thanks in advance. :)

Yes you can use both dg and rpg grasses at same time, one is textures (dg) and rpg grasses is meshes which any varition will work has well. So you can use 2 sl, 2l, 2s, etc..

Ah, gotcha, thanks. I should have caught that myself (DG is textures, and RPG Grasses is only meshes); I need to quit installing mods when I haven't slept. :P

low poly

That is a good option other than of RPG tri poly version. So I will add that to list for grass mesh improvment to use..for fps boost..

How's the performance when using this one? I have QTP3 with its Reduced version on my hard drive but haven't installed them because Oblivion might lag or stutter badly might with my "antique" PC.

Most excellent! All of the packages made my oblivion so much more beautiful, the best part was the performance. P4 3.2 ATI x800xt 2 gigs ram and it ran fantastic. Can you tell I'm a fan? :D

It's good to go through the Oblivion Mod forum once in a while, even to check up on mods you already have. I've been using these textures because they look dang good and keep my FPS up as well. But I realized I was missing quite a few after checking out this thread. I had to download Architecture SI, Weather textures, DistantLOD SI, Clutter and more clutter....

Great job CorePC, I appreciate all the work you do. Keep it up!

I've been playing the last few days, and I have to say that, for obvious reasons, although it isn't as detailed as QTP3, for obvious reasons, this texture pack is still amazingly better than stock Oblivion textures. They really do just look great. Performance is great as well. I can actually have Better Cities on now and not have the game a slideshow.

Thank you. Once again it was never my intention to make something like qtp3. I wanted just more colorful vanilla textures. So glad people are liking it. Imagine you could probably use RAEVWD has well.

- I do have some fixes planned for Next Updates once they are done..

- Better Imperial City wall lod not so white
- Better Vibrant Sun
- A few Misc Textures that I missed

- VibrantDistantLOD Normal - see pic of what the new Lod Normal look like. Detail, Detail, Detail. Imperial City Overhead..

Looks great CorePC. It's great when you can actually see roads so far off in the distance...

PS. I've always used RAEVWD, I'd rather lose new textures than everything viewable ;)

two different color textures has the one of the left is old lod and one on the right is new lod and that is seam where one lod quad start and another begin Which is somewhat hard to fix. But will be fixed in next version the seams. Hopefully.
