(WIPRELZ) Vibrant Distant LOD & Vibrant Textures Enhance

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 1:01 pm

This is exactly what I'm looking for! QTP3 strays too far from the vanilla textures for my tastes and also takes up way too much memory for my mod load, even with my 5870 (I have FCOM and other mods). I like the original textures just want to enhance them and this does the trick! Thanks!

Well these have strayed away from vanilla a little bit when it comes to color scheme, but, not when to comes to performance, which is same has vanilla if not better in some areas. Plus if you run heavy mods then you want all the vram for running those textures from those mods has well.

Any plans for a RAEVWD package for these? Or would TESLODGEN take care of this?

Vibrant RAEVWD will get done one of these days, just a matter of resizing to raevwd setting is all and getting the format right etc.

TES4LODGEN is only for creating the data files (data\distantlod\) that are needed for Far Distant Model to be seen in the far distant, and without a VWD Mod like RAEVWD, it would serve no purpose really..

Eh... Corepc, I have a problem with the new 1.6.5 and 1.6.6 packs...
Uninstalled and (unfortunately deleted ) the old packages.
Installed the new ones and actually reinstalled all my textures replacers.
Tried to visit waterfront - instant CTD every time.
Any suggestions?

Edit: Found out what's going on :D
Better Cities conflict.
Uninstalled BC, reinstalled the latest version, updated NPC levels, loaded the last save and went to kill the captain in Waterfront harbor.
Some people don't get subtle hints and need a shovel on the head :D

Are the Install instructions in the first post up to date?
I noticed they include the
Vibrant Architecture
Vibrant Clutter
Vibrant Distant Normal
files. Which are listed on Tesnexus under Old Versions.
If so, the instructions on Tesnexus need to be updated as well.

Should I follow the instructions and just skip the files that are listed as old?

Instructions for Install order is still the same , just slighty out of date with Current 1.6.5 Download

Has the 1.6.5 Vibrant and 1.6.6 SI are all in one download that contain all the Architecture, Clutter, Landscape, Oblivion Files in One Download. So instead of downloading each one you only need to 1.6. X Version.

The Distant Normal and Weather and Grain Filter are seperate install and they are not old files..

I was testing the package today..I have installed Vibrant 1.65+Weather+Grain Filter+Distant Normal and Really Textured Normal maps..Why the texture size was reduced?from 2048/1024 to 512..Btw the textures are still wonderful and I could use them if qtp3 redimized makes my game stutters(after I install FCOM)..otherwise,it could be used to cover what QTP3 doesn't cover^^

I'm starting to love the vibrant textures :D Could someone tell me if these install orders are correct to get the best?

Vanilla:

Really textured normal maps
Bomret detailed normal maps 1.1
Vibrant 1.65
Vibrant Distant Normals
Vibrant Weather
Vibrant grain filter
Detailed Terrain

High res(without considering improved flora, retextured arena, lush and gaudy etc):

Really textured normal maps
Bomret detailed normal maps
Vibrant 1.65
QTP3 Redimized
Detailed Terrain

I would install Bomret's normal maps first and then Really retextured normal maps.
I consider really retextured to be superior to Bomret's. However, Bomret's cover some things that really retextured do not. That's why I would take Bomret's as the base and then let really retextured overwrite as many files as possible.

FatalIllusion - I suggest you to install Really textured normal maps after Detailed Terrain, since Detailed Terrain's normal maps are very flat.

I tried Really textured after Bomrets but the Vibrant textures di not look quite right in places as they ar ebased on Bomrets. You'll have to pick and choose.

@Kasildor thank you!

I think that really textured normal maps should be installed before bomret's detailed normals..then install vibrant as it contains modified bomret's normals

I said that also because really textured normal maps package contains some inverted normal maps which look ugly(architecture normal maps if I'm right)..but if you want to have more detailed clothes, armors etc you should install RTNM before bomret

Thank you, it lets me make my game look nice even though I shouldn't even be playing Oblivion on my computer.

I followed Corepc's advice in the RTNM thread which was Bomret, Vibrant then RTNM... But yeah, do wish the inverted normal maps can be fixed. Wonder if anyone can at least help figure out which ones require fixing and how to do it yourself, doesn't look like Jarod would be making an update any time soon. Do the Detailed Terrain shaders work with Vibrant?

That is unlikely, because the textures have to "match" too. In other words, from what little I understand, their alpha channels need some content added/changed. That is the case with the "Detailed Terrain QTP3" textures, I believe.

Yeah I used it with QTP3 but left it out since I wasn't certain it'd work with Vibrant when I switched. But seeing FatalIllusion install DT with Vibrant made me wonder..

DT upgrades the qtp3 terrain textures so if you install it,you'll have higher res terrain textures ;) (I've used it with vibrant and I see no issues)

Oh, now I see what you (probably) meant. Yes, of course, you can mix and match texture replacers. Assuming you apply an archive invalidation fix, and install things in the right order* (or simply use BAIN...), that is.

* In this case, Vibrant followed by DT, naturally.

Nah, you assumed correctly the first time, arafel. :P Specifically mentioned the DT shaders, if they would work with Vibrant textures. Afterall, for me the point of switching was to use Vibrant textures.
