WIPz] Animated Morrowind

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:09 am

I have a question. It has been a long time since I played Morrowind, and I am considering playing it again. Do the NPC's not have animations? I could have sworn they read books, messed with alchemy etc. Is this for player characters?

Yeah, now that I think about it the NPC's just sit in chairs and stand around when not walking right?

Well some mods add sitting NPC's (via sitting pants), but the original game had all NPC's standing.

Other ones that might be good,

- Potion Making (Oblivion style would be more than satisfactory)
- Sitting (this probably would require heavy scripting or once the NPC has been attacked the NPC could not do sitting anim again via script...)
- The writing animation could also be for scroll making...
- Mining

You are talking about Oblivion. Uncanny Valley style...

This is exactly my intention for one cell in a WIP mod.
Probably, a long loop solution is the best suitable in this case.
I have made digging animation. I it is not perfect but works and could be fine for background NPCs. I can upload the nifs in case anybody is interested to test/help. IMHO it is better to find a general working solution and that to apply it for other similar animations (videos, pictures are fine but in-game tests are final and more informative).

*snip*

:)

If someone made an animation - it is an accomplishment as is. :) What about other slaves (as not all of them are where digging is rational)? Maybe bored and helpless animations for those imprisoned outside or in caves? Anyway, awesome!

Offtopic,

It would be nice if someone changed the animations for all races to something better for example - walking: the human races feel kinda unreal -dream walking- and the beast races run as if they have a wedgie (for a lack of better terminology).

it is more a pose than an animation, but I could give it a try later, when I am done with all the other projects

Alright cool, heck I could probably do it my self, I know how to animate, been using max for umm.. 8 years or so, do you happen to have any information I could read, how to go about importing it into morrowind and what tools I'll need? :)

Couple of thoughts:

First, in my now-defunct Animated NPCs, I applied one of the dancing animation resources to an NPC and placed him in-game on top of a bonemold shield so that he was dancing on top of it, and ergo, doing the handy high-kick.

Second, might you consider doing an Animated Morrowind:LGNPC Edition? I remember that in Seyda Neen, there was a guy who was a retired arena fighter with a bad knee- maybe you could give him a limp? That sort of thing, though. Would be kind of nifty.

I like all 3 of them, the harp one is ... dreamy (would need a female bard with a harp, maybe one from the Tylwyth (spelling?) mod

Hello, Arcimaestro Anteres. Your work is really impressive! I saw that it was a discussion of music and decided that perhaps i can help with that.
I took my guitar and recorded this little tune. I hope that my modest abilities would be one. You can use this tone to their bards, if you want.

Regards, Der Juvas.

P.S. And sorry for my English. :)

It's beautiful! As much as I like the Morrowind theme, bards need more than tha in their repertoire. Keep them coming I say.

Axel put everything a max animator needs to get their animations into morrowind on that page, there's a download for a collection of animation tutorials on there, but definitely get the Biped files for morrowind animations, it makes animating for morrowind a lot easier.

Arcimaestro,

Almost all of your animations are perfect, thank you! When you are going to release your mod?

Here is another idea for you. In morrowind concept art, Telvanni wizards are terrifying, insane and... FLYING dunmers. Telvanni towers are also designed to fly in their interiors. So, maybe you will make some animations for Telvanni wizards? They can hover above ground. Something like Vivec god, but less calm, more magical. Without legs crossed.

I would say, concentrate on Vanilla MW first. So everybody will have s.th. out of it. I think there is more than enough room for new animations in the original game.

Firstly, I'd like to say that this is a great project you're working on, AA, and I hope you're able to finish it. :)

I missed a "[" before "WIPz]" :( can a Moderator add it??

You'll need to send a report to the moderators asking them to change the thread title.

I don't know if anyone said anything about this yet, but there is a drunk walking animation in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUa-71Mp7ko&feature=related, though I don't know where to get it.

Hello Again!
Thank you very much! I'll surely use it! fing34.gif The music is woderful and fits well the world. I'll make a bard named Der Juvas who plays this music!

Thank you very much!!! It is nice to read it. I thought that when inspiration comes to me, i must write another melody. Here it is.

I hope I'm not too annoyed that. I think you'll like the idea to expand the repertoire of bards.

Regards, Der Juvas.

Just out of curiosity, what is the next animation to look forward to? It's been a few days, so I'm starting to wonder.

Well I'm almost done with a raking/hoeing animation, but I need to tweak it to look more human.

I thought of one last night, mostly for one of my mods but I'm sure many people would benefit - how about doing a simple walking animation for the Dwemer ballistas with legs? I think an uneven gait for those would be fantastic.
