End Game Content

- This is a quest based mod that puts you, the player, on the line. Imagine, a video game that traps its players, forcing them to complete deadly tasks, risking their very lives just to escape the hell that has become their reality.

- You, the player, start playing Fallout 3, unknowing of its hidden danger. Your soul is trapped there, in the form of your character, unable to escape, leaving your physical self as nothing but an empty husk. As luck would have it, you stumble upon another player in your game. He explains to you the situation, and that he has a plan on getting out. Help him, and you just might be able to save your sanity.

- This mod will attempt to tie the real world with the game world, adding a secret plot behind the reason for all the DLCs. Want to know the real reason behind Broken Steel? The Pitt? Anchorage? Why were the developers so eager to keep you out of the Capitol Wasteland? Why the need for GFWL on a single player game? All this will be explained, and more.

This quest line will start out with the chance meeting of a normal NPC, or as it first appears to be. Having a little chat with them, you start to get the feeling that something is a bit off about this one. With further investigation, you find out that this is actually another player. But wait. Isn't this a single player game? He explains that he has found a way to hack his way into GFWL and transfer his character to other games connected to GFWL. Chance would have it that he wound up in yours.

This unnamed player tells how Fallout 3 is a trap, designed by "The Developer" to trap people's souls. Without souls, people in the real world are manipulated easily, and this is how developers stay funded, by making their now slaves, buy their products. However, this particular developer made a mistake. His game ended, which allowed people to escape the game and return back to reality. To combat this, the Developer constructed 2 new worlds known as Anchorage, and The Pitt. However, this distracted players for quite some time, they still found the end of the game, thus escaping. This is when the Developer made a final attempt, releasing what we call Broken Steel. With the advent of this DLC, it removed the end of the game, making it impossible for players to escape. At least thats what you are lead to believe.

This unknown and unnamed player will take you on journey across all the DLCs in search of mystic "Bit of Reality" pieces in an effort to escape this hell of a video game and return to the real world to live your life.

I don't know what else to say. This idea is still very fresh, so expect it to be fleshed out and better explained as I put more and more thought into the details.

That being said, I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Need clarification on something? Let me know. I want this to work, and I've never felt so engulfed in an idea.

I have high hopes for this, if I can really bring out and successfully make what I have in mind.

This sounds pretty awesome. Is Todd Howard the end boss? Or Bill Gates? :P

New quest added: Get a Life: restore the exit game menu button

Would require a T.A.S.K.M.A.N.A.G.E.R. Is said to return life to the gamer. Hidden deep inside windows....

I wont be using any direct names. That is why I am using "The Developer".

You wont be restoring the exit button, but if I can, there will be something similar.

I do have a few questions. What DLCs does it require, and will the game end after the final quest? Or do you thwart the evil plans of the Developer?

It will use all of them. And no, the game wont end. What I plan to do however, is see if I can make a doorway that when activated will shut down the game. Hopefully this will make players feel like they made their escape. Totally optional though.

The concept reminds me of a movie that Disney made in the early 1980s. I hear that they (disney) are making a sequel now.

Tron? Yeah, I thought of that after the idea poped. But there won't be any digitizing laser in this one XD So perhaps not a super unique idea, but should be fun regardless. Sometimes old stories can be just as interesting when given a nice fresh look.

FOSE's http://fose.silverlock.org/fose_command_doc.html#con_QuitGame can do this, although I'm sure you'll want to enforce a scripted save via http://fose.silverlock.org/fose_command_doc.html#con_Save or http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/ForceSave before you force the game to close.

Thanks, I was gunna bring this up when i reached that point, but now i don't need to.

All the DLCs.

The way I see it is "The Developer" uses the piece of reality to leave the game world and return to the real world. However, you as a player don't have the power to use a single piece. (Think of source code.) So you are tasked with traveling to each of the DLCs, finding these fragments so that you can sort of "hack" your way into the inner workings of the game. This will allow you to eventually escape.
