{WIPz] Lord Devil/Quatloos memorial mod

Post » Sun Oct 11, 2009 12:08 pm

If I might be able to be included as an NPC, I have some info for you on how it could be compiled somewhat. In the info here, the stuff covered in ( ) is if my previous idea to incorporate a tribute to Grumpy were to be included with this mod, if not it could be dropped. Other than that, you are welcome to use this (or not) as you will:

Character Name: Red Eye
Character Race: Dark Elf
Hair: Long, White, Braid in back
Face: Scar over one eye
Clothing: Elegant White Robes of some kind

--------
GREETING
--------

Greeting 1 [Not Met]: "Greetings, my friend, and welcome to the shrine for Morrowinds fallen heroes. Have you come to pay your respects to Lord Devil (and Grumpy)? You should find this place to be suitable for your reflections. Or perhaps there was something I could help you with?"

Greeting 2 [Met]: "Three blessings and well met, (PC Name), I was thinking back on some of the words shared with (my dear companions,) Lord Devil (and Grumpy). Was there something I could help you with?"

------
TOPICS
------

Lord Devil: "You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back. Or you can do what she'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on."

(Grumpy: "If I could reach up and hold a star for every time you've made me smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of my hand, but no possession is gratifying without a companion.")

(Star: "Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.")

Love: "If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, people die, but real love is forever."

(Companions: "It is a comfort to the unfortunate to have companions in woe.")

Shared: "Remember to be gentle with yourself and others. We are all children of chance and none can say why some fields will blossom while others lay brown beneath the August sun. Care for those around you. Look past your differences. Their dreams are no less than yours, their choices no more easily made. And give, give in any way you can, of whatever you posses. To give is to love. To withhold is to wither. Care less for your harvest than for how it is shared and your life will have meaning and your heart will have peace."

I'm afraid we are not 'allowed' to put Grumpy or Grumpy concepts into memorial mods. This request comes from Grumpy himself and we will honor that request. These are good ideas, but we will not be able to include them in this mod. Thank you for your time and effort. :)

Ahhh, was unaware of this, though I made it so all that could be optional in the end (the portions related to Grumpy), you are more than welcome to add the bits for Lord Devil if you would like, or not if you choose as well.

Looking forward to seeing this released, and thanks to all who are working on this for the amazing efforts that have been put in. This community never ceases to amaze me!

As far as the NPC for the Lord Devil part, just create the NPC with the dialogue you want and send all the pertinent files to me and I'll get them into the mod :)

It is good that such an ambitious project is dedicated to one who truly deserves it. I hope there will be a release soon.

Wow.
Walked randomly into the pinned forum thread about the misfortune loss and keep sweeping through the lined comment link until getting here. 1 year. One whole year has passed on since the beginning on a worshiping project, a tomb to honor a lost friend. I speechless, people around these corners got the be the best kind that ever existed. This might even be something to put in the records books, regardless this is truly a record-high sign of love. Kudos, respects to all creative 'n lovely beings. Rest in piece, Lord Devil/Quatloos I didn't had a chance to get to know you, but you was certainly a extraordinary person with all this appreciating and warm feelings surrounding you. And I hope to visit you soon in the fields of Vvardenfell.

True. She seems like a remarkable being. Still with that on the wall, one can get overboarded pretty easily if there is no reward in it. I'm not saying that some people are being lazy and unwilling to job to achieve a gift for their friend. No, but without a current goal and some basic rules on how to move there some things break up during the way. Ancient Egyptians built gigantic monuments to show their appreciating to the deceased king and queen. It was out of love and respect, nevertheless they had a plan and some really convincing leaders to complete it. Without proper motivation big working projects can unexceptionally crash, and be forgotten. With my profession as a project leader I seen it happen a lot of times. And it troubles me.

One should never forget the old expression: sometimes a single rose can give the same effect to someone as an whole bouquet.

These are just my personal thoughts, you do of course whatever you like.

I'm sure progress is still being made........albeit at a much slower pace than during the first couple of months. Perhaps a WIP report could clear up what is left to be done? Some of us here may be able to help with the finishing details. ^_^

I don't know about everyone else's progress, but I've lost all my work on this mod and all my other mods I was working on. So, if this mod is ever finished it will have to be without my urns and helm.

I am still working on the main island. I had a family tragedy that has taken up much of my free time in the last month, so now I am trying to speed it up. Rest assured progress is still being made :)
I will post an update this upcoming Friday.

Oh dear, this is upsetting :( I am sorry to hear that poonfisher69. Those urns you did were so lovely! Ah well, these things happen, we will just have to look for new urns I suppose.

Good news! I have finished the landscape. Unfortunately my computer finally kicked the bucket and I have not the money to repair it, however before packing it away I made sure I had backed up the finished version, so no worries. When I get home from work I will install it on my brothers lap top, give it the once over, and send it over to Bryss Phoenix.
I'll also post some pics after so you all will see the progress. :)

I have now received the modded info from Raccoonism, and it looks fantastic. I will be doing some extensive work on this this weekend, but please do not pester me about when it is going to be done, as that lends me to panic attacks. It will be done when it's done. :)

Bryss, what is going to be done about the urns? Will they just be the standard ones now?

I just don't know at this juncture. It has been SO long since I gathered all that information, I have to go through it all again. It's ok though if we have to use ingame urns, or possibly no urn, but some other appropriate symbol. :)

Due to the passing of Lord Devil/Quatloos (God bless her soul) A few of us have decided to create a community wide project in her honor. Anyone who is interested in paying respects to her can join in. The theme is to stick to an ancestral tomb, but let's make it the grandest, most decorated tomb in Vvardenfell! She deserves our very best efforts and respect for her duties as THE greatest PES Moderator and as a fellow modder of the highest calibur. R.I.P Lord Devil You will be sorely missed.

This is the topic in which you may read about her untimely demise...http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=845299

--------------------------------------------------

What the Sanctuary will entail:

The Sanctuary will have most if not all of the tapestries from Morrowind Hero's. If I can get some volunteers, I will place some people from the forums here in the sanctuary. There will also be a place to rest, and storage and just peaceful places to relax and think.

What the Shrine will entail is:

It will be on a floating island, the shrine is custom along with the tapestries, urns, and two books to be included. There will be tapestries of mods she created. There will be music in the background chosen by Nikki that will activate when you enter the shrine. You may pray to the shrine and receive the blessing of Lord Devil/Quatloos.

Scripting of blessing and all other needs by Fliggerty.
We have a wayshrine reminiscent of Oblivion coming in from vality7.
We have a grand sceptre being made by Dragon_Lance.
Music submitted by Nikki.
Sanctuary submitted by Shannon.
Retexture of the sky for the sanctuary submitted by DJGamer.
New flora created by Clavis
Screenshots submitted by Raccoonism.
Etheral light race submitted by Westly.
Robes for the honor guard submitted by Westly.
A book detailing Q's mods and a tapestry or two are being done by midgetalien.
A book of quotes from LD/Q by Somnabulist

What is needed is:
I need two urns. One for Lord Devil, one for Quatloos.
A book of comments from The Community (currently a WiP) http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=845334
I need a retexture of a hammer.
I need a retexture of a quill.
I need a screenshot of Summit. Someone, somewhere has got to have one....
I need NPCs of people who will be in the Sanctuary. This can be any number of people, as we can script you to come and go, so the place doesn't have to be crowded, but as far as I am concerned, the more the merrier.

There will be no ability to engage in combat of any kind from the start of the boat trip, through to the island, the sanctuary, nor the shrine. Also, you will not be able to take anything from these places unless you are intended to.

This list will get updated as people contribute. If I have missed anything so far, please let me know, there were a LOT of pages to sift through to find all of this stuff. :)

I can't say I knew them, or about them even, I can't offer help with any mods, I'm not very good with the construction set yet. But I can say that this is one of the most amazing ideas I've ever heard of. It's so great to see a forum community with great people. Too all of you who are taking time and effort into this. I lift my hat to your kindness and care. Good luck to all of you, and I hope this works wonderfully.
