This does look like an amazing idea. I dunno what Nicholiathan is on about, maybe he cant read.

Would love to see how this was made and how easily it could be implemented across the whole of morrowind

Let's just hope he turns up again eh?

I just saw this mod in action in youtube. Good stuff. I HATE when people start a mod(specially a potential one) and they never finish the damn thing. I know people have real life chores to attend to but at at least, just in one small quick sentence, tell that you'll be absent for a while. Not a very professional move.

Professional? Modding is something people do for fun, it's not a job. If the creator of the project has problems and has not been able to state in this thread then that's his business, don't you think?

You don't have to have/do a job to be professional. For example, here in the forums you have to conduct yourself in a professional manner without saying cursing words, talking bad about religion, race, sixual orietation, etc. The moment you expose yourself to the public then it's important to behave/talk/do in a professional manner even if you do things for fun. I guess being "professional" is a trait of successful people and maybe i'm barking at the wrong tree. Great modders, if you look closely, tend to have better raport with the audience. I just hope he hasn't passed away:(

If so, then R.I.P

I think it's safe to say neither zich nor me have passed away, seeing the fact that both of us have been active on the forums today. :) I'll try to get in contact with zich again ASAP, see if he still has plans with this mod, else I'll officially ask for his permission once more to continue work on this mod. Zich, if you read this, please just give a reaction? :)

this looks so dang good. I would really enjoy having this in the game once it's completed. seems like it would add a lot of believable atmosphere

Ok, I will subbornly bump this once a month until something comes out of it
If anyone has access to whatever got completed so far - could you please upload it somewhere or pm me for my e-mail address? I would like to have a look at how it is done. No promises made. But one day we should have weather dependent illuminated windows - the idea is just to cool not to be followed up on.

I wish they'd release what they got done. I'd learn how to use CS to finish this.

Maybe if we post enough on this thread, the author will come back. This looks like such an amazing mod, the way the sunlight comes in through the windows in the morning. What would also be cool to add is water droplets leaking through the ceiling in some of the shacks. I really hope this mod does not die.

The video looks great, and this mod definitely has potential, but I'm curious about your lighting.

I'm not trying to be snarky, so please don't take it that way, but how is this better than making the interior simulate an exterior for lighting? I'm honestly curious, because I'm about to do a whole boatload of interiors for a mod, and I'm going to be implementing very similar weather effects and lighting. From the look of it, you have (at least) two lights outside the window for lightning and daylight.

In my mod, I have a couple of special "regions" for interiors (to keep it from raining inside) and use a combination of scripting to switch regions (from sunny to cloudy to overcast) and a highly modified version of ASE for lightning and weather sound effects.

From the video, I can see one possible improvement. In my mod, I have to use "dark lights" to keep the ceiling from being too bright, while your version seems to allow for more pure darkness at night and during poor weather. I'm just curious if you have compared your method to using a false exterior for lighting.

I'll agree with that, just keep posting on the thread and see if anything comes of it. Pretty soon the topic will probably be locked, if so, who will open a new one??? :nope:

Maybe he's secretly working on it anyway, and is gonna release it sometime in the not too distant future. One can only hope

I doubt anyone is working on it though, if anything people tend to show off things that they don't intend to release or haven't even started on yet, instead of the other way around. I'd just like to get me hands on what's done so far, hopefully we'll hear from whoever worked on it last.

zich was last active on the forums on May 21, 2010 and AquaNord was last active on July 02, 2010 (the two I recall having worked on it) - so I suppose it is possible someone might still be working on it, but the lack of news regarding it is disconcerting to say the least. I suppose someone might want to try the old PM option if folks are really desperate to find out what's going on :)

Guilty, lol. Sorry guys, can't remember when I last promised working on this, but I'm gonna stop making those promises. Can't keep them anyways. I have given up on trying to get in touch with zich months ago, never got any reply. So still no 'official' permission to release this into the wild, and actually I don't feel quite comfortable putting his work online without permission.

What I can say is that it shouldn't be too hard for a semi-experienced scripter to put a mod like this together, iirc. I'll say this, I do promise (last one lol) I will give this mod another look verrry soon. If I haven't posted here within a week, send me a pm if you want to (I will notice, I'm still a frequent lurker) and I'll make it final whether I finish this kind of mod or not. Will be my own home-made cookie then, though. Using zich's stuff just doesn't feel right.

Gonna sleep now, it's nappy-time here :D cheers

P.S. If zich is still working on this, dude... let us know, please :)

Really, seems like such a waste not to use zich's stuff. I am assuming it is mostly scripts and modified meshes? It isn't as if (I am assuming, correct me if I am wrong) it is custom made textures or meshes. If zich has lost interest or (hopefully not) or had something unfortunate happen, it seems unlikely (not impossible of course, just unlikely) that he wouldn't want his work used. *shrugs* Just a thought.

As a note, I did send zich an email today via the boards to see if I can try and get some info regarding this (still being worked or not) and have him pop in. Otherwise I also did ask if there would be objections to someone else resuming work on it.
