Wired USB xbox controller has no ESO support

Post » Tue Mar 11, 2014 6:09 am

I loved Skyrim...so much that I stopped playing in on a console and switched to PC so i could mod the heck out of it (man that was fun). I also fell in love with using a wired USB Xbox controller from microsoft. I recently submitted a question to the ESO team asking if it is or will be compatible and here is what they said...

"Hey Mark,
My name is XXXXX and thank you for contacting us here at The Elder Scrolls Online support team.
I understand that you are wondering about controller usage for the PC version of Elder Scrolls Online? I myself get back ache from leaning over keyboards so I get why you'd want to use controllers. Unfortunately, the PC/Mac control scheme is optimized for keyboard and mouse. Any of a number of commercially available emulators will allow you to use a controller, however ESO does not officially support controllers for PC and Mac. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of The Elder Scrolls Online will use their systems' respective controllers.
I hope that helps clear things up for you :) If you have any questions or comments, please contact us and we'll be happy to help.
Thank you for your continued interest and support!"
So just in case anybody is wondering the same thing...I've see some threads and all have "speculated" that you would be able to use one, but it appears the answer is and will be NO.
HOWEVER...If you google this topic, there is an app for the pc that seems to work specifically for this game/controller configuration, i even think there is a ESO thread with a link to the website.

Thanks for the info! If you find that link, could you post it here? I definitely would like to try to use my Xbox controller.

Really back ache leaning over a keyboard? Who plays like that is his/her face pushed up against the monitor also? Get a good setup and it's as nice as playing with a pad.

I'd like controller support. All that mouse clicking every day is hard on my wrists some times. But at least it's not an action RPG with ten clicks per second.

I do, but Im visually impaired and dont have a boom setup for my monitor. Cant anchor it anywhere.

Its part of why I dont read chat in combat.

As he said, Xpadder. Takes a little bit to get used to the mapping system, but all seems to work well for me.

I have debated learning mouse and keyboard over again or try to find a reliable download site to get xpadder. After trying to play Skyrim with a mouse and keyboard I feel that it's restricted in movement. I wish they had official support for a controller.

So will there be support for a wired controller for PC or not?

will we have to use a third party software to use a wired controller?

You'll have to use third-party software. Still, if it's possible for us to do... what's so hard for ZOS to implement actual controller support.

I use Joy2Key, allows seamless and total emulation of keyboard and mouse. Works with Logitech gamepad and PS3 controllers too.
