PC wireless controller problem...

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 11:04 pm

So I got a Wireless Gaming Receiver off of Amazon for about $20 because my wired 360 controller broke. It came with an installation CD and a PDF manual. Whenever I try to install the drivers, my computer can't find them. The manual says that the receiver works with Windows XP and above, and I'm on Windows 7 x64. I don't know why it can't find my drivers. When I try to manually install them, it says it is incompatible with the .sys files that I installed and instead is looking for a .inf which doesn't show up. Is there anyone who knows something about this? This is my first time having trouble installing drivers for something, so I'm pretty inexperienced. Thanks in advance.

W7 knows what it is by default. (I have one to with W7.)

Plug it in, and go to Windows Update, it should download and install the latest drivers for you.

I tried that, didn't work. I've also tried to manually search for drivers and nothing has worked at all.

I was actually looking at that link before and I couldn't find the "Windows Standard Class Controller" or whatever it was when I was choosing to find drivers. I looked for Microsoft also, but to no avail.
