That has a simple solution. Create enemies in more rewarding areas and certain circumstances that are really hard to kill so that you still have to try hard at max level. Then the purpose of levelling is so you can go and beat them with effort to get that great reward and not be utterly obliviated easily.
Let me just state for the record that my original response was more of me playing devil's advocate based on what I see posted on other threads. Personally, either way would fine with me. So, in the spirit of arguing because I am bored at work with nothing to do the rest of the week
, the basic premise would be the same: you level up to fight a "tougher" opponent, ok, but how much more "tougher" than the enemy on the previous level is the new enemy going to be
in relation to the previous level? Seems like a wash to me.
And I guess, I am a bit biased towards becoming stronger than everyone else as my character levels up, simply because fighting becomes highly repetitive as the game progresses, so mid-game on, I am usually much more interested in the story than the fighting, so the sooner I'm done with fighting to keep on with the story, the better.
