Good god no. Can't think of anything worse.

PVP?!?!?!
I prefer to keep Fallout 4 as a strict single player game, that way all resources devoted to the game will be used to (hopefully) improve the single player experience.
Who knows, maybe Bethesda is working on "Fallout Online"??? I suppose it could depend on how well ESO is doing and if it is generating significant enough revenue for Bethesda to expand their online game portfolio).
There are literally dozens of post-apocalyptic style PvP style games out there, and every single one of them reveals the absolute worst in humanity and I'm glad that Fallout has none of that going on. Go play RUST and get yourself ganked in the spawn zone if that's what floats your boat.
I am glad there is no PvP. Role Play has been dampened enough in FO4, PvP would lead to even less.
Oh please, no. I'm glad there's still a company without tagged on multiplayer. Not the least bit interested.
More like the arena for animals in FO:NV something like the arena in Oblvion would be well known.
And that everybody had green markers until you came inside fooled me.

sums that up pretty well.
Now an group of friends so organized they used teamspeak would dominate such an game so hard they would be bored fast
Yup, sums it up perfectly.
Developr has an awesome idea. Completely forgets about the human factor.
Humans come and ruin the game by utterly trolling each other.

Plenty of titles have and will fall prey to that one.
From a technical standpoint, multiplayer is not possible with this engine. It's been tried to be added by modders for several of the previous Beth games with no success. Beth has no experience with any Multiplayer games (ES online does not count...that's a different development studio).
Now a totally different engine that somehow imports your FO4 character to play with is possible, but a completely different development and game (read cost).
everyones ached for it since wayyyy back.
for whatever reason, Beth will not hire peop who understand how to make it work.
The epic fail of turning ESO over to outsiders for the majority of the programming is info enough as to their inner domicile & policy.
A better class of people inhabited that area before it was turned into Government Center.
Last I heard (about a year ago), they were still working on it. I think they had gotten to the point where you could actually see the other player.
Couldn't agree more. Some games are better left as single player only( I'm looking at you Bioware!)
That how I was with DC Universe. I thought it was going to be a single RPG( my friends said it was) at first but lost all interest after founding out it was a MMO.
Yeah because everyone stomping about in X-01 shooting mini nukes everywhere would be a great time.
Seriously though? No thanks.
ESO is a fine game. I'm not sure if you have a point here. It's an MMO which is fine by me.
How would stealth attacks even work in pvp, just being invisible does not mean I can't tell where you are, and crouching won't stop me from shooting you to smithereens with my HE minigun.
I mean, seriously, without OP sneak attack power you would not win a dps arms race against a tank play like myself. I have almost 1000 health and full Xo1 Power armor with minigun dealing 76 aoe damage per shot across a grenade sized area, I can't even survive it's power so what are the odds someone with lesser constitution, then there is the people who bring big boy mirv's for the one hit kill no matter what.
Agree completely and definitely keep that away from my BGS games
That X01 better be fully speced out or my T60e will be stronger. I'm switching but my T60e is a beastly set right now. Learning how to rain fire from above these days.
Hey, the Atom Cats thought I was cool.
No thanks. Too many people use hacks or exploits to make PVP in video games fun.
If Fallout got PVP, all the best perks, armor and weapons would be severely nerfed, or even removed completely....your Tank would get hit hard as they would drastically reduce your DPM and HP Pool to make it fair for the noobs. As far as Fat Man launchers, they would probably be removed from the game as being OP is the whole point of the weapon...no one would use it if it was "balanced".
If you want to see how PVE can be ruined by the demands of PVPers take a look at Destiny. I finally got fed up and walked when they dropped the Mega-nerf of all Year One weapons to force you to buy The Taken Wallet....but it got steadily worse from the release as they were constantly tinkering with weapons to appease the PVPers. and to make things even worse they were using increasingly ham-handed tactics to force PVEers into their broken PVP mode. Before I played Destiny, I wanted Co-Op in Fallout....after seeing how toxic PVP was to the PVE experience in Destiny, I want no multiplayer whatsover in this game, giving it even a toehold with CO-OP is too risky.
Quoted, because that's worth repeating.
The D is an object lesson in how to use PvP gameplay criteria to turn a beautiful, atmospheric, fluid PvE shooter experience into a disjointed and mediocre sack of incoherent crap. It's definitely the prettiest PvP I've seen in a long while, but they chose to leave almost everything that made the gameworld and individual characters narratively or mechanically interesting on the cutting room floor in order to get to that point. it's a great example of how to get away with marketing game A, but delivering game B. So far they're pimping it just right and making money on it. More power to 'em, business is business, but Bungie can't have any more of my money until they cough up a Marathon sequel. The Destiny franchise is a hot mess for people who (justifiably) thought they were buying into a long-tail PvE world building exercise.
I wouldn't mind seeing a little coop play by introducing a system similar to Far Cry 4's. Basically it would allow a buddy to take control of your companion. Their own character would not be in your game, and they would have access only to the weapons and ammo you provide or they find in your game. That wouldn't be game or lore breaking, and would make game appeal for people who only play games with friends.
Now I am dreaming of playing fallout with my real life girlfriend playing as piper....
You do know the two of you can do that without a game while having much more fun in the process
