Wispmothers = Falmer. More evidence.

There is a Pale Lady told of in Morthal according to the book Lost Legends, thought to be one 'Aumriel' of Ysgramor's time who continued to harass his descendants for generations. The book says Aumriel was defeated and sealed up by Ysgramor's heirs. There's a wispmother called 'the Pale Lady' sealed up within Frostmere Crypt - one of the earlier Nordic barrows, around the same antiquity as Yngol Barrow if architecture is anything to go by - attached in some way to an ancient Nordic sword.

Aumriel has an elven name and an elven lifespan, and wispmothers do have elven features. Could the Pale Lady encountered in Frostmere Crypt be the lich of a Falmer warrior-queen who resisted the Nordic incursion into western Skyrim, and does that mean that all wispmothers are also remnants of the Falmer? Here's the excerpt from the book...

For generations, the people of Morthal have told whispered tales of the Pale Lady, a ghostly woman who wanders the northern marshes, forever seeking her lost daughter. Some say she steals children who wander astray, others that her sobbing wail strikes dead all those who hear it. But behind these tales may lie a kernel of truth, for ancient records speak of 'Aumriel', a mysterious figure Ysgramor's heirs battled for decades, and finally sealed away.

I agree that it is likely that wispmothers are a form of undead Falmer.
Given the places you encounter them in the world and their appearance.
Interesting this little tidbit you dug up.
Can I ask, where in Morthal are they talking of the Pale Lady?
